Hi I'm みちお (Hosaka Michio)

I am a husband and the father of five children, and I live in Akishima City in Tokyo, Japan. I am a fireman, and as the leader of a fire crew we are prepared to deal with day-to-day calamities. I have been training in kendo [fencing with bamboo swords] since I was a child, and I am still doing it today.

About Me

I am a husband and the father of five children, and I live in Akishima City in Tokyo, Japan. I am a fireman, and as the leader of a fire crew we are prepared to deal with day-to-day calamities. I have been training in kendo [fencing with bamboo swords] since I was a child, and I am still doing it today. I also teach kendo to children in the region. I have fun doing sports and tending a family vegetable garden.

Why I am a Mormon

When I am learning things in this experience that is called life, I sense that there are things that are beyond human understanding. Through prayer and by reading the scriptures I can truly feel that the Savior Jesus Christ truly lives and that he guides us.

How I live my faith

I live my life as a member of the church, and during my college years I served as a fulltime missionary in many areas in Kyushu, Japan. I am currently serving as a teacher at church, and I teach those who are wanting to learn about the church and members who have just joined the church. In order to spend time as a family, we hold ‘Family Home Evenings.’ During this time we do things such as talking about church-related topics, discussing the events in the daily lives of each member of our family, and playing games together. By doing this I--as a husband and a father--can watch my family develop, and I can feel the peace and joy of my beliefs in my daily life.
