Hi I'm JT Gentry

I grew up in Littleton, Colorado. After I finsish serving my mission in Hungary I will play football for BYU. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and also love being active and playing sports! In high school I was a All-State football player and also participated in basketball and track (shot put and discus). I just signed to play football for BYU, but will first serve a 2 year mission in Budapest, Hungary. I love school and plan to major in Finance at BYU. My hobbies mainly consist of eating, lifting, doing homework, and just hanging with the family. I could not be more excited for the chance that I have to serve a mission and share with people the truths that have so greatly blessed my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I know this Church to be true. I have come to this knowledge for myself and I know that everyone can come to this knowledge if they truly want it bad enough and have faith in Christ. I know that Heavenly Father is the father of our spirits. I know that He has a plan for me and I know that if I follow His plan I can return to live with Him one day. I know that Heavenly Father sent His son Jesus Christ down to earth to suffer and die for the sins of man. I know that because of the atonement all mankind can return to make it back to live with our Father in Heaven after we have done all we can. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that it is the most true of any book here upon the earth. I know that when we make study of the Book of Mormon a true part of our lives then we will receive more blessings than we can imagine. The Book of Mormon is true and if you have not come to that knowledge for yourself then do what it says to do in Moroni 10:3-5 and that is read the book and ask God with full purpose of heart and real intent if it is true. God will manifest the truth of it unto you, I absolutely promise. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God who was called to open up the last dispensation and restore the true and everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ upon the earth. He really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and he really did translate the Book of Mormon. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet here upon the earth today. I know that President Monson and the men that serve with him are truly called of God to lead the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in these modern days. I love this gospel and I know it to be true. I could not be more excited to be able to go and share this with the people of Hungary. This is the true church here upon the earth and through faith all can come to this knowledge!

How I live my faith

Like I mentioned, I absolutely love the gospel of Jesus Christ! It is such a big part of my life, it is who I am, and I do not know where I would be without it! I try to show my faith by the way that I choose to live my life. I choose to keep myself clean and pure from the evils of the world. I refrain from substances that are harmful or addictive to my body (alcohol, tobacco, coffee, tea, vapor cigarettes, etc.). I choose to obey the law of chastity, which means that I avoid any sexual relations outside the bonds of marriage (including the avoidance of pornography). I choose to treat my body with respect by not violating it with tattoos and piercings. I choose to not cuss or speak foul or degrading towards others. I choose to honor the Sabbath Day to keep it holy because I know that it is a holy day that is dedicated to honor our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am choosing to go on a mission because I know that it is a commandment from the Lord (see President Monson's General Conference talk from October, 2010) and I know that the Lord will bless me and honor me for my efforts to serve him. I am so excited to share what I know to be true with others because I know how it has blessed my life and I want it to bless the lives of the people of Hungary.
