Hi I'm Joshua Lomiga

I grew up in Torrance, California. I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student, and I enjoy drawing, singing, playing the ukulele and expanding my friend zone! I'm a really open-minded person to get along with. I love to watch rugby, football and volleyball. I have a deep passion for languages and I enjoy hearing each and every single one of them. Besides English, I can read, write and speak Korean as well as Samoan, Spanish and Tagalog. I am the second youngest of seven. I have four sisters and two brothers. One of my sisters served a mission in Leeds, England. Another sister is currently serving in Buenos Aires, Argentina as well as my brother who also is currently serving in Wisconsin, Milwaukee. I too am serving a mission in Daejeon, South Korea!

Why I am a Mormon

I think anyone (whether you have been a member your whole life or not) can actually be a convert to the gospel. I have been a member my whole life, but when I reached maturity, or the age where I could be accountable for myself, that's where I sat down and actually thought about my religion and what I stand for. Now, I know what, or should I say 'who' I stand for. I stand for Jesus Christ! He has helped me throughout my life, even now. I am not perfect, I am aware of my inadequacies, but I know that through the Atonement of our savior, Jesus Christ, I can with stand any opposition that comes my way. There is a scripture that I keep close to myself and it helps me whenever I am going through a tough time. It is found in the Book of Mormon, Helaman chapter 5 verse 12. It reads: "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." This is it. This is why I know this gospel is true. It's main purpose: To testify of Jesus Christ and to proclaim His love and saving power to everyone! No matter how hard life gets, or how worthless I feel, or how impossible it may seem to move forward, Heavenly Father loves me. He even shows it by sending His son Jesus Christ to die for me in hope that I can return back to live with them again! This is exactly why I continue to stick to this path and hold to it! I wish everyone else could feel its power and know that there is a God in Heaven who loves them and watches over them. But, that is why I am going to serve a mission! I can't wait I look forward to it with much anticipation!

How I live my faith

I worked for the City of Lawndale in Southern California. I worked in the Community Services Department where we hosted public events during holidays or recreational activities such as music, art or dance classes and even sports. It has been a privilege to meet and serve the public people. I especially enjoyed serving the senior citizens and getting to know them. Just being able to talk with them and listen to them always brightened my day. I have gained so much respect for them, and I look forward to meeting more seniors. I am currently serving a mission in which I will be going to South Korea, Daejeon. In the meantime I am preparing here at the Missionary Training Center here in Utah. I am serving a mission for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to help spread His gospel and invite others to come unto Him. He has called me to serve, and this is me answering His sacred call.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Joshua Lomiga
We most certainly believe the Holy Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly! It is sacred and special to us. We need it. It goes hand in hand with the Book of Mormon and their sole purposes are to help testify of Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible is very important to us mainly because it testifies of His birth, ministry, Atoning sacrifice, and His death on the cross. All are important because it witnesses of Him and that he is the Son of God, the Eternal Father sent to the world to redeem us all and bring us back to live them again. Show more Show less
