Hi I'm Kristen

I love Geology and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Kristen and I'm a Mormon. I absolutely love geology. While some people may find it hard to sit and look at rocks all day, I find it fascinating. I am currently in college majoring in Geology. While going to college, I live far away from my immediate family, so I'm basically on my own and trying to live the best I can. I enjoy singing and playing the piano. I like to run and I hope to be able to run a half marathon (13.1 miles) in the near future. I love the gospel and through my trials and adversities of being a college student, I constantly see God's hand in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From a young age I was taught basic principles of the gospel. I chose to be baptized when I was 8 and I received the Holy Ghost. There was never really a big event to mark where I gained testimony my testimony that this church is true, but it was more of a gradual conversion. As I have gone through life, I have been able to see how God has helped me. I see those without the gospel go through trials due to ill decisions because they have no guidance and it makes me grateful for this church. I continue to follow His gospel because it gives me hope and happiness. I know that I am a child of God and he knows me. I am one of his special children. I know that families can be together forever. I know that Christ is our Savior and through him we can live with God again. Geology can sometimes conflict with the gospel. Questions about evolution and dinosaurs and everything else can start to cloud my mind and doubt subtlety creeps in. I know this is Satan and I then remind myself of a verse from the Book of Mormon: 1 Nephi 11:17 says, "And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things." In the end all we really need to remember is that our Father in Heaven loves us. Some day we will know the meaning of all things, but now is not the time. I know that this gospel is true and I've found that learning science only strengthens my testimony that there is a God.

How I live my faith

I try everyday to live how Jesus would. Service and being an example are two important components of the gospel. I am on a service committee in my ward. We plan activities to do every Monday as a ward. By doing these activities we are trying to become closer together as a ward and help people make friends and feel welcomed. I am in the ward choir also. Singing is definitely a way for me to express my love for God and Jesus's atoning sacrifice. "The song of the righteous is a prayer unto the Lord." I believe that music has the ability to touch people's spirits and help them know the truth of the things being sung. I feel that since I somewhat have the ability to sing, I should share my talent.
