Hi I'm John

I grew up in Southern California. I love my wife, and I love to surf. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really enjoy serving people, which is why I chose a career in financial planning. I liked math in school, and since I enjoy working with people, this career suits me well. I love outdoor activities like running, surfing, biking, and volleyball. I have four children and five grandchildren. My desire is to be a positive influence in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined this church when I was seventeen. I told myself that I would not join unless I knew it was true. When I heard the Joseph Smith story, I wanted it to be true, but I did not know. So, I prayed about it, all the while attending church, reading the scriptures, and studying the church's doctrine. After nine months, the Holy Spirit witnessed to me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, that the Book of Mormon was true scripture, and that the church was true. Once I had that witness from the Spirit, I sought baptism immediately. I have never waivered from the church, and I never will. I would never want to turn my back on God or on his son, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to set a good example, both in word and in deed, to all around me. I try tofocus on the positive aspects of my life. One thing that helps me do this is when I carry a grateful attitude. For instance, when I am grateful for my car and the fine roads on which I am able to drive, then I am not bothered when I am stuck in traffic. I have so much for which to be grateful, that I have little time for negativity. This church gives me plenty of opportunities to serve others. When I help others, I always get a good feeling. Perhaps that is why I spend much of my time fulfilling my church assignments, and volunteering for various projects. Next week my lovely wife and I are going Christmas caroling, and I can't wait!
