Hi I'm Laine

I'm a student. I'm an adventurer. I'm figuring out life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Laine and, for the most part, I am an overwhelmingly average mormon girl. I am the baby of seven kids and I have 18 nieces and nephews. At any given moment I would rather be on a mountain. I am a basker of beauty and a lover of light. Singing makes my heart happy and I love helping others feel powerful emotion through music. I am a sucker for Downton Abbey and anything Jane Austen. This year I finished the sophomore year of my bachelors degree in Business Finance at BYU-Idaho. I don't really know what I'll do with my degree, I just know I get a certain thrill from a balanced spreadsheet. In the near future, I will be speaking Spanish as a Mormon missionary in Chile.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am a merciless seeker of truth. From the time I was a child I knew there was a God out there. I was raised in a Mormon family, but I didn't fully believe it for myself until I was probably 14. It was then that I first fully applied myself to the Atonement of Christ and started living intentionally. Before then, I had lived the commandments in deed, but not in thought or in heart. I realized that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in true not because any person or book told me it was, but because I could feel the love of God through it's teachings. Through prayer, I have been able to learn that this church comes from God and none else; that is pure truth.

How I live my faith

Living Christ's teachings means constantly accepting change. Everyday I try to be a little bit better at living what I believe. By regularly reading the words of Christ, I am able to learn about how He would want me to live, think, and love. From my studies, I set weekly goals to speak a little kinder or help a little quicker. My church provides me with many opportunities to become better through service. Right now, I am responsible for organizing weekly activities for our congregation. The best part is when I get to visit people who are struggling and learn about their needs so that we can plan activities where we can serve them. It is one of the best feelings in the world to look into their eyes and know that their Savior loves them SO much. Helping others inspires me to continue trying to be my best self and serve God a little better.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The purpose of missionaries is to help others come closer to Christ. When the visit people, they simply share how the truths that Jesus Christ taught long ago have been restored in their full truth today. Show more Show less
