Hi I'm Andie

I grew up in the military, I'm a military brat. I love teaching and I am currently serving a mission for the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dad was a pilot in the United States Air Force when I was a kid, and as a result I lived all over the place. The sound of airplanes overhead reminds me of my childhood. I want to get my pilot's license someday. I love painting and singing and working on cars. Random, I know, but that's me. I have been going to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for the past 3 years, and I have been learning how to be an elementary school teacher. I love teaching! It's so great to have a child think you're the coolest person they've ever met. I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Utah Salt Lake City South Spanish speaking mission. I love the Gospel and want to share it with everyone I meet!

Why I am a Mormon

This church is true, and it brings me so much happiness. Every time I read the Book of Mormon or go to church, I can feel that it is true. It's like no other feeling; it's like coming home, to my real home. I grew up in the church, but I still chose to follow the commandments the Lord has given us, and I still chose to be a member and to go on a mission. I chose this because I know this is the true church, that Joseph Smith restored Jesus Christ's church to the earth, that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that reading it and living the principles in it will make me happy, make me a better person. I prayed to know the truth of the message when I was 14 years old, after I had finished reading the Book of Mormon for the first time. I said a simple prayer, and I received an overwhelming feeling of peace and "YES!" after I prayed. It was the best feeling in the world. I continue to follow the Gospel because I know that it is HIS (Christ's) Gospel and only through living it can I be truly happy.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving a mission for the Lord. I will be a missionary for the next 18 months and I will share the Gospel with anyone I meet! In the past I have been the pianist for church meetings and I have helped organize activities for the women in my church group. I also served on the service committee in my church group and did random anonymous acts of service for people. I think that was my favorite thing I did, seeing how happy it made people. That is one of the best feelings for me, knowing that I made somebody else's day enjoyable.

What is faith?

Andie
Faith is a belief in something, but you can have faith that a seed you plant will grow, but it won't unless you take some action and take care of it. The same thing goes for faith. Faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ, leads to action. Dormant faith will get you nowhere. When you have faith in Him, you trust in Him, and have confidence that He has a plan for you, and that He will take care of you, no matter what trial or challenge you are given. Faith cannot last on faith alone; it must have action or it won't make it through the tough times. Show more Show less
