Hi I'm Stephan

I grew up in Ontario, Canada.I am serving a mission in Oaxaca Mexico for our Saviour Jesus Christ!!!! I'm a Mormon and love it!!!!

About Me

so im 21 years old, and Ive been on my mission for 4 and a half months in Oaxaca, Mexico now and its sweet i love it so much!!! Every since i got on the mission ive realized really how fun basketball is, we ball it up every pday! Ive been to college in canada to be an electrician. I loved working, i still do love working but for the salvation of the people in oaxaca!!! I miss going to the gym and hanging out with my brother, but i know that the lord has called me here for a reason, and I am so grateful for this opourtuniy!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because i know that the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints is true! ive read the Book of mormon threw 3 times now and eahc and every time i do i gain a stronger and stronger testimony that Jesus is The Christ and he is our savior! I hve also read the new testament one and am currently on in my second time, i love the way the saviour taught he really is the master teacher! through him and only him is it possible for us to return to live with him and God with our families for time and all eternity! I know that this church is true because i have prayed and specifically asked if its true and through the holy ghost i have received an asnwer to my prayers!! anyone can they just have to simply humble themselves and ask the Lord!!! 2 missionaries came and knocked on my door and because of them my family has been blessed so much, and thats why i have the desire to share this gospel with anyone and everyone i can in oaxACA!!! this church is true and i know it with all my heart!!!! I would love to invite anyone who gets a chance to read this to do the same! Read the book of mormon and pray to your heavenly father and I promise you that he wil give you an answer, that it really is true!!!

How I live my faith

I participated in my ward by going every week! i would go to all the classes. to prepare for my mission i would go out with the missionaires alot and teach people. Then my bishop called me to be a ward missionary so i had to go out with the missionaries a set time each week so it was great! I just try my hardest to model my life after our saviour Jesus Christ, who just loved everyone! It is so much easier to folow a faith when you have someone who is in direct communication with our heavenly father. Our prophet, Thomas S Monson is a true prophet of God called to lead and guide this church today to help us prepare for the second coming of the Lord. I love reading the book of mormon and the bible so much more and everyday i can learn something new from them both, its because they both really are the true word of God, through them both my testimony of the Saviour grows every single day!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God, our eternal father, and his ressurected son our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We hold Joseph Smith the prophet in high esteem. He was the prophet of the restoration, and Jesus Christ restored his true church on the earth today through Joseph Smith. It is because of him that we now have the authourity of God to carry out all of the sacred ordinances necessary in this life to progress to the next and receive eternal salvation with out families forever. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

As latter day saints we believe the bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. One of the commandments that we can find in the bible is we must pay tithing unto the Lord. It really is a test of our faith, tithing really does seperate those who say the love the Lord and those that do. Tithing in our church is really only used to fund Heavenly Fathers kingdom on the earth today. It goes towards building maintenance, temple construction, materials for the missionaries to use in their prosyliting and to help the poor and the needy. As the scripture in Malachi 3:8-10 the Lord will open the windows of heaven upon us and pour blessings upon us that there may not be sufficient enough room to receive it. I was a full tithe payer before my mission and I can testify that the Lord will bless all those who pay an honest tithe, because it happened in my life. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

As we know from the teachings of Jesus christ, everyone must be baptized in order to enter into the kingdom of God(see John3:5) Many people in the world did not have the chance to be baptized, either because they died without having the oppourtunity, or were baptized by somene who did not have the authority to do so. But as we know heavenly father is a loving God and merciful to us his children, and has provided a way for all of us to be baptized. We know when Jesus Christ died he went and taught to the dead in the spirit world(see 1Peter3:18-20, 1Pedro4:5-6) so they too could haeve the same oppourtunity as we do on the Earth today. We also know that in the bible times they did the same, perform baptisms for the dead by the aposlte Paul(see 1Corinthians15:29) We do this because we know it is true doctrine and we have the restored church the Jesus christ established in his time on the Earth. We help our deceased ancestors have the oppourtunity to accept the gospel and receive the same blessings that we can recieve! Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries are actual representives of Jesus Christ, who have been called and received authourity to teach to the peoples of the earth by a living prophet. When the missionaries come to your house they will share with you the message of the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ, the very same church that Jesus Christ himself established upon the earth when he walked the Earth. They will share with you the plan of salvation, the plan that our loving heavenly father has created for us so one day we can return to live with him in his presence with our families forever, which Jesus Christ is central too. They will also share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is first having faith in Jesus Christ, Repenting of our sins, taking upon ourselves the sacred covenant of baptism by someone holding the preisthood authourity of God, receiving the gift of the holy ghost by the laying on of hands and enduring to the end. Through these lessons we fulfil our purpose as missionaries by " inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repetence, baptisms, receiving the gift of the holy ghost and enduring to the end" Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The preisthood is the sacred authority that God has given to man for act in his name for the salvation of all of his children. That same authority that from the time of Moses, to the tiem of Jesus and his apostles, exists today in the church again because the Lord loves us and restored it to us through the prophet Joseph Smith, whom received it by heavenly messengers by the laying on of hands. First by John the Baptists to the aaronic preisthood and then later by 3 of trhe original 12 apostles, Peter, James and John. All male members of the Church who are foudn worthy and prepared receive the priesthood to help in the fathers plan which is Moses 1:39 For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. He may help the Lord in this great work by leading congregations throughout the World. perform sacred ordinances such as baptisms and the laying on of hands to give the holy ghost and bless the sick and the afflicted. All those who have been blessed to receive the priesthood are held responsable to use this power of God with love, gentleness and kindness with righteous desires. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a spriritual witness that members of the church have received by revelacion and spiritual impressions received by the holy ghost. For me it has been blessings that I know I recieved because of beng faithful, trials i have overcme and answers that I have received. my own testimony is that i know that god is our heavenly father and he loves us, he made us in his own image and has placed on the earth to learn and to grow so one day we can become like him. I know that he lved us so much that he sent his only begotten son to the earth to show us what type of people we should be, and he set the example for us. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the hly messiah, the one who through is sufferng in the garden of Gethesemany, his death on the cross and his glorious resurrection we have been freed from the bonds of death and sin, through faith in him, repentence, baptism, receiving the gift of the holy ghost and enduring to the end. his inifinte atonement is the greatest power in this earth, which we can receive forgiveness of our sins and spiritual strength to press forward. I know that the Lord established his church on the earth again through the prophet joseph Smith, and today we are led by a living prophet who has been called of God to lead and guide his people. I know with al my heart, mind, might and strenghth that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Saviour's restored church on the earth today. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

As missionaries we serve for 2 years, leaving all behind including our family, friends, and school to preach the gospel of Christ that has blessed our lives so much. There are some missionaries that pay for the mission at their own expense, others who are supported by their famlilies and others who receive help from local members. Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ and learn about his atonening sacrafice and the plan the our heavenly father has for us his children, and how we can return back to his presence. Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Through the love that our heavenly father has shown us, he has called prophets today just as he did in biblical times. A prophet is a worthy man called directly from God to lead and guide his children back into his presence. Today we have a prophet who can speak with our heavenly father face to face and receive revelation for the whole world, and his name is Thomas S Monson. When Christ walked the earth he established his church in a very specific way, as stated in the New Testament, in the book of Ephesians 2:20-21:And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief ccorner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord. The lord has also called 12 apostles, to help lead and guide te church as well, all of which we sustain as a church every 6 months as Prophets, seers and revelators. I know that President Monson along with his 2 counselors, and the quorum of the 12 apostles are men divinely called of God to lead and guide his church so that we can return and live in his presence once more, and I know this through the power of the holy ghost, which manifested these things to me in my heart and in my mind.
