Hi I'm Alan

As a US Army Major, I enjoy flying helicopters around the world. I have a beautiful wife & five kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Northern California and enjoy spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

The bottom line is I am Mormon because this is Christ’s church restored in our day. I believe this with all my heart. I enjoy reading the Bible and learning about Christ and how he is my Savior, Redeemer, and Brother. I like learning about the miracles he performed, the greatest miracle being that he died and atoned for the sins of me and all mankind. The Book of Mormon supplements these teachings in the Bible and strengthens my testimony about the divine role of the Jesus Christ. I encourage all to seek out Mormons or missionaries to learn about the Book of Mormon and about how Christ’s church is restored to the earth and led through the direction of living prophets as in times of old. One of the dearest blessings that I cherish is that families can be together forever if we are obedient to our Heavenly Father’s commandments. The reason why I am Mormon is because I have felt the pure warmth of the Holy Ghost in my heart testifying to me that what I am doing is right when I live in accordance with the teachings of the Mormon faith. On the flip-side, I also have felt that void, or merely go through life without real purpose, when I am disobedient to what I know is right and place my wants and desires before the Lords.

How I live my faith

Although far from perfect, I do my best to have my actions reflect my beliefs. I enjoy good company of family and friends. I put forth an honest effort at work and strive to learn and expand my abilities. Moses teaches that “men are that they might have joy.” I try to keep a positive attitude and look for the best in things. I choose to refrain from alcohol, tobacco, and using foul language. My goal is to live so that I might cheer up other people and hopefully draw others to Christ’s teachings. Our time here on earth is one phase of our eternal development and progression. We learn and grow best when our abilities are challenged and tested. Because of this God allows us to be tried throughout life and therefore life isn’t always easy. However, God has also told through the scriptures that he gives no commandments unto the children of men save he shall prepare a way for us to accomplish his commandments. I try to remember that nobody is perfect and when I make mistakes I need to be are quick to repent and continue to live as I know I should.

Are Mormons Christians?

Alan
The misconception about Mormons that frustrates me the most is the false idea that Mormons aren't Christian. Nothing could be further from the truth! Christ's exemplary life and divine role in saving humanity is the most fundamental and essential component of our faith. All other elements in the Mormon faith are designed to bring people closer to Christ, recognize and repent of our sins, and bring us enduring happiness. There are countless ways to obtain short-term pleasures in life but I personally testify that the only true, sustaining joy I’ve experienced in my life is by aligning my will with Christ’s teachings and following his counsel revealed through the Holy Scriptures and prophets. If you are considering learning more about this faith and furthering your relationship with God, I urge you to take the time and earnestly investigate the Mormon faith; you owe it to yourself to find out. It will change your life. Show more Show less
