Hi I'm Alec Dover

I am a BYU student serving a 2 year mission in Lyon, France and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in an amazing family. I am the second child of 6. I have 4 sisters and 1 brother. I love my parents. Together we have lived in Oregon, Maryland, and we have spent the most time in Texas. I have developed a love for playing sports; especially Football, Lacrosse, and Ultimate Frisbee. I can play those all day. I was team captain in high school for my football and lacrosse teams and got to teach my friends about what I believe and the standards I choose to live. From those expériences I chose to serve a mission and I am currently in the France Lyon Mission. Though I cannot speak french and I cannot play soccer, I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

My mom and dad taught me about the church ever since I was a young boy. I've had many experiences in my life that have let me know that this is God's church restored on the earth today. One of them occured when i was in high school: I asked a friend of mine if he would be willing to take me home after football practice one day. On the way home, while at a red light, he looked at me and said, "Dove, my man, I wish I could be more like you." I was puzzled at what he was saying because I wished many times I was more like my friend. He was team captain of the football team, was loved by everyone at school, and was a smart young man. I wanted to be in his shoes. He looked to me and said again, "I wish I was as good of an example to others as you are," and he just talked about how he noticed that I was different from other people at school with how I acted and treated others. I looked to him and said "You can be like me. You can." He stopped the car, tears streaming down his face and said, "I just can't." I really wanted to help my friend. I want other people to feel the joy and love that I have from knowing my savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I believe that I am always divinely guided. I believe I will always take the right road. I believe that God will always make a way even when there seems to be no way. I study and seek to apply the things I learn from the scriptures. It brings me so much joy and happiness and I love sharing it with everyone. It is so important to me so I want others to feel this joy that I have.
