Hi I'm Sheryl

I am an engineer, a nerd, a Filipino living in Australia, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Filipino who moved to Australia two years ago and now works in an Internet registry. I am passionate about networks, the Internet and technology. I guess you can say that I'm a nerd. I have a fascination for fixing things and tinkering with computers. That must be why I became an engineer. If I'm not online, I am usually out watching movies, hanging out with friends, or even caught up in a good book. I read anything on my spare time, but lately I have taken into Classics. While I am not the adventurous type, I do enjoy traveling, admiring the scenery, learning different cultures and beliefs, and sampling whatever they can offer. I am blessed to be able to do this as part of my work. I also love astronomy since I was a kid and I can spend hours simply adoring the night sky.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother and my brother introduced the Gospel into our home when they were converted to the Church. I have them to thank for pretty much growing up with the Mormon culture, being around 5 or 6 when they were baptised. My mother wanted good influences for her children and so the Word of Wisdom was among the factors that really got her curious. But more than that, I believe I have my own testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Having been educated at a University with so many conflicting beliefs (or lack thereof), it usually baffles people how I remained in the Church. However, the more I rationalise it, the more I am convinced of the truthfulness of the Gospel. I love being a Mormon, and I love how it brings me and my family closer.

How I live my faith

When I became a member, I made a covenant to take upon myself the name of Jesus Christ. I live the Gospel by standing as a witness of Him through my actions. I try to be a good influence to my friends, peers and colleagues. I try to think of my actions and its repercussions before I act on it. I also sustain and show appreciation to our Leaders, and continuously study and learn about the teachings.
