Hi I'm James

I'm a Musician, I'm a DJ, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is James Johansson, born January 1995 in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm half Samoan, half Tongan. I have roots in Lona, Fagaloa, on the island of Upolu, in Samoa. I also have roots in Longamapu, on the island of Vava'u, in Tonga. I'm a Musician; i play Piano, Saxophone and Drums. I'm also a DJ and a Producer, with most of my Production work being inspired by Hip Hop (from all era's of Hip Hop).

Why I am a Mormon

My father had many significant assignments in the church growing up, but i found myself wanting to know how church attendance and membership could be so important to someone in today's world. I've prayed, just as our Missionaries invite others to do. For me, i believe that God (our Heavenly Father) confirmed to me that this church is true. It's something i feel that only individuals can know, and it's something that i know separate of any person, or of the words they use. Galatians 5:22-23 (in the New Testament) were the scriptures that i used to gauge whether it was from God or not. 22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. This is something i feel peaceful about. I never felt peace as a kid, knowing that i was only 'faking it til i made it'. So i tried it. And it worked out for me. My faith isn't founded in my parents, or even what my parents expect of me. I'm doing this because i know that there is a God, who is my Father, whom i can speak to directly, as it says in James 1:5 in the New Testament. This has been the pattern of my 'growth' in the church, in relation to ALL doctrine and principles of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. If you are having doubts or ill feelings towards the church, i would invite you to pray about your concerns sincerely. I don't expect you become a member of the church. Nor do i expect you to agree with what the church teaches. This is the conclusion i came to and how i came to it. Please, ask questions !!!

How I live my faith

I attend church regularly, and have assignments at church to fulfil on Sundays and during the week. When i interact with people as a Musician, DJ or Producer, i'm not afraid to make my beliefs and morals clear in professional situations. I respect anyone and everyone who has taken the time to find peace in their lives, no matter how they have come to that conclusion. My faith in Christ is something very dear to me, but i let my actions tell people what i believe. I, like many others in the church, am not perfect, and sometimes not an exemplary member of the church. But that's the reality of the Jesus i believe in. I carry that with me, and do my best to SHOW people what i believe, rather that tell.
