Hi I'm Jason

I love to learn and climb mountains, and you guessed it, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is jason. i am the youngest of eight kids. i've lived in the same house my whole life, until I went on my mission which I am currently on. i was in Brazil for three months until i was reassigned to the Sacramento california mission. I love to make things out of clay, especially heads. One year I stayed up til one in the morning making a giant head out of snow. It was about ten feet tall. I named him thor. I love to hike, sing, and read.

Why I am a Mormon

I know it's true and it brings me happiness to live in harmony with those Gospel truths. I was raised in the church, but have received a personal witness from God that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that through Him I can return to live with God. The Spirit also has testified to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that the church today is led by a living prophet, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I'm grateful for the knowledge and power of God that comes into my life because of the Temple. These are things I wouldn't trade for the world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping God's commandments and serving others. Going to church helps my faith to stay vibrant throughout the week. I serve in the local congregation I'm a part of. I listen to the counsel of God's servants and seek to find God's will for me through personal promptings from the Holy Ghost. Weekly I have the opportunity to serve in the temple, which instructs, motivates, and inspires me.

What do Mormons believe about family?

We should have families. A mother and father. Children. We should implement the teachings of Christ within our homes, with each other. We can live as families even after this life when we're wedded in a Temple, and keep the promises to God we make there. We gain some of the greatest fulfillment this life can offer as we live the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a family. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes. People can call us whatever they'd like, but the truth is we believe in Jesus Christ. He is God's son, and my personal Savior. I want to be like him. I love him so deeply. Isn't that Christian? Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Perhaps because we have cultural halls in our buildings? :) No. I suppose in part because of misunderstandings about what we actually believe. In addition, as members we sacrifice of our time and means to do God's work. Some may see such sacrifice, and view it as, "too much." We also stress obedience to God's laws. Many people view these laws as restrictions. God's laws don't make up a prison-house to keep us from fun or happiness. They're a fortress of protection. The difference between a prison and a fortress is who has the keys. I know these commandments are guidelines from a loving Heavenly Father for how to find true joy in life. Living these commandments has kept me safe from the sorrow that follows wrong choices. Show more Show less
