Hi I'm Michael Malmberg

I am a musician, scholar, dancer, and writer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since my youth, I have dreamt of doing things like curing all viruses, being an architect, solving the world’s energy problems, and in general, making a difference in the world. I realized my dreams all seemed to center around expanding the breadth and expanse of human knowledge, so that is my plan. To accomplish that, my major in college is Chemical Engineering. From a young age, music has brought joy to my life, and I have embraced that through my passions and talents of being a pianist and vocalist. I love the Spirit that music brings to people’s lives and I have used it often as a pathway to peace amid my trials. I also enjoy writing poetry and songs to help me express my joys, pains, and all in between, as well as my beliefs. I have had Tourette’s syndrome since I was about 8 years old, which involves bodily jerks or vocal outbursts, called “tics”, in which I have some to little to no control over. I have realized the Lord has allowed me weaknesses to make me stronger and teach me of the great potential He has given me. Through the Lord’s blessings, I now experience much less tics than I have before. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in the Ukraine and in California, and I feel so blessed that I had the opportunity to serve the Lord. Truly, much of what defines me is the influence that God, through His great love and mercy, has made on my life. My relationship with God is everything to me and I strive to show it in all I do.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's true church here on the earth today. I have felt the power of His Atonement in my life, changing me to become a better person. I have also felt the healing power of the Atonement in my life, cleansing me from my sins and giving me a greater desire to serve others and to always be ready to serve when the opportunity beckons. I know this is the truth because through the scriptures, I have gained insight into myself and answers to my most heartfelt prayers. I know He lives. I know He loves me. I know through His gospel that I can return to live with my family forever if I follow His commandments and repent of my mistakes. I know that doing so brings true peace, so much so that at times I have been able to have a smile on my face for no other reason but that I have His peace! It is the most wonderful feeling in the world and I truly hope that everyone can have that joy! I have only begun to realize the magnitude of what it means to really be a disciple of Jesus Christ. It is a lot of work, but the blessings of the Lord's love in my life and the Holy Spirit's guidance are every bit worth the effort. After serving a 2-year mission for the Lord and since then, I have continually found joy in my service to God. I know that the only true joy has come to me as I have devoted myself to doing good and trying to keep God's commandments. There is nothing else of more meaning to me in my life than my relationship with God. He has been with me through everything, the thick and thin, and I am a Mormon because I feel His love so abundantly here and in the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is taught in its purity here. The doctrine taught here is true and has changed my life forever. Seek to know your Savior, and He will always be there for you. He is there. He suffered and died for you, and lives for you now and wants you to return to Him. May we come unto Him together!

How I live my faith

Praying has been for a long time a great strength to my life. As I pour out my heart to God and then go forth to try to serve others, I have seen miracles in my life as well as in those around me. Words cannot describe the magnitude of how prayer has blessed me in my life. Prayerfully and earnestly studying the scriptures has brought great knowledge and understanding into my life. I have from them received answers to my prayers, received other personal revelation, and learned how to better help those around me. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Donetsk and Kiev Ukraine mission and also in the California Irvine mission. Because of war, we were sent to the neighboring Kiev mission from Donetsk, and because things did not get better, I was sent to California. I gained a love for the Slavic peoples and for the Russian language. Serving the people there has changed my life. I have learned more about myself and how to better myself and better serve others there than I ever could have during any other period of my life thus far. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings more happiness than anything else in the world. I enjoy service, from teaching piano to spending time with family and friends to teaching in church groups. Whenever I am down I know that I can serve someone and then feel better. In all of this, I find joy in trying to make a difference in the lives of others by seeking God's will in what I should say and do. It is a wonderful experience to feel that God is working through you. Some of the most meaningful experiences for me are finding ways to uplift and strengthen those around me to help them feel the love of God in their life. One of the most meaningful quotes to me, one that I strive to model my life after, is the following by the Prophet Thomas S. Monson. "Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved." Seeking to love those around me is of paramount importance in my life.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Michael Malmberg
You can come to know the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ the same way I have and how i continue to learn. Have the desire to know and be sincere. Then pray to God, our Heavenly Father that He will let you know that this Gospel is true. You can pray for more specific aspects if you have more specific questions as well. Then as you pray, listen. Listen not just with your ears, but with your soul. Pay attention to feelings that come as you pray and thoughts that seem to just pop into your head at that moment. The Spirit testifies of truth, so if you feel good inside and you feel in your mind and heart that it is true, that is His witness to you. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

Michael Malmberg
We should have faith in Jesus Christ, for He is our advocate with The Father - our Father in Heaven. It is only through the grace and mercy that come because of the Atonement Jesus Christ that we have hope to return to live with God again. We must have faith that Christ is our Savior and author of our salvation, and that because of the Atonement, we can repent and become clean. Faith leads to action, thus if we have faith in Christ, we act by striving to follow Christ's example and become like Him. Show more Show less
