Hi I'm Derral

I live in Coeur D' Alene with my wife and four little boys. I've been happily married for 13 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of four crazy boys. 12, 9, 7, and a 3 year old. They keep my wife and I crazy busy. My wife Tricia stays at home with them making sure they are well taken care of. I run my own little business as a finish carpenter. We love to go camping in our little camp trailer that we pretty much completely tore apart and rebuilt. We enjoy riding bikes as a family and playing games. Donavan our 12 year old is involved with boy scouts, and is always dreaming up new ideas. Kendall (9) is in cub scouts and under his own inspiration, is training for a triathlon. Quentin (7) is a high energy kid. He trains with a gymnastics team 6 to 10 hours a week. His goal is to make it to the Olympics, and Weston (3) spends his time running mom in circles. Life for us is very busy, but tons of fun!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 19 years old I was dating this wonderful girl. =) She was a Mormon. We had talked about church several times but not really to any great length. We began to be more serious about our relationship as time went. She approached me with our difference in belief, suggesting that we think about what we are going to do. I with some difficulty said that I would learn about her church if she would learn about mine. She agreed. I met with the missionaries and went through there discussions. I felt no real conviction but went in with an open mind. I did pray to know the truth. I had been going to church for maybe a month or so and agreed to be baptized because it just seemed to make sense. Then one day during gospel principles I felt something I have never felt before. I felt the holy ghost burning within my soul. I really felt it, and ever since that first time, I feel it testify to me of the truth of the gospel. I feel it during special times like when I'm at church, reading the scriptures or baring my testimony. It even helps me make decisions in my life. I continue to learn about this gospel but the only real way I know its true, is from that undeniable feeling of the power of the holy ghost. I have felt it and I can not deny it. I love this gospel. I can not even imagine where I would be without it. I am so thankful for my blessings.

How I live my faith

I try to live a clean and wholesome life. I don't smoke or drink and I try to keep my family and myself from getting into bad or negative situations. We only watch movies appropriate for the family. I try to serve others as much as I can. Our church provides us a lot of opportunity to serve. The best way to help yourself with your problems is to help someone else with theirs. It's just good medicine. My family and I strive to become closer to Heavenly Father by being aware of our shortcomings and try continually to better ourselves. It provides an incredible foundation to raise a family because it makes us more aware of what true principles are and provides the perfect way to improve ones character. It is a wonderful way to live!! I love this gospel, and I am truly thankful for my blessings.
