Hi I'm Elton T

I was born in Michigan. I am a retired chemist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired chemist, having worked in the paper and related industries during my career. I am a widower now for some 9 years. I realize the importance of families as I now live with my daughter. I enjoy my work at Church, gardening, and music. I keep my mandolin next to my easy chair. Most of the songs that I love are from my days of "early poverty" on a farm in Michigan, the courtship of my eternal companion, and our hymns.

Why I am a Mormon

While living near work in Wisconsin, two missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knocked on our dorr. My wife invited them back and we agreed to hear the discussions. All of what they taught was right out of the Bible except for the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith. We thanked them and told them that we could find what we wanted in our Methodist Church. However, we could not. Over the next five years, we studied our's and may other churches. None taught the Savior as He is in the New Testiment. None taught that families are forever. I finally finished reading the Book of Mormon and knelt down in prayer. The spirit witnessed to me that it is true. My wife and children already had a testimony. My wife, our oldest son, and I were baptized that next week. Two years later we were all five sealed together forever in a Temple of Our Lord.

How I live my faith

I am one of a group of older men in our ward. We have great Gospel lessons each week. We visit the families assigned to us and enjoy the love they display in their homes. We senior men organize a 4th of July celebration for the members of our ward. Breakfast, the Pledge of Alliagence, and song bring us all together as one large "family" of love and caring for each other.
