Hi I'm Ronna

I live in Mesa, Arizona. I'm happily married and blessed to have 6 children and 23 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Just a little about myself. I enjoy being a wife; homemaker; mother; grandma ('Nanna' to my grandchildren); daughter; sister; and friend. I also enjoy sewing; teaching children; taking institute classes; reading; studying; searching my family history; indexing for 'Family Search'; serving others; and singing in a church choir.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors were Mormon pioneers who came to America after their conversion to the gospel and so I was raised in the church all my life. When I turned 8, (the age where children were able to be baptized), I had my own confirmation that the Church was true. The Spirit bore witness of this to me as I came out of the waters of baptism. I will always remember that feeling. Every aspect of my life is connected to the beliefs I hold dear to me. The study of the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and other scriptures give me an understanding of who I am, the purpose of this life and what I NEED TO DO to have eternal life with my family. Jesus commanded us to be perfect like our Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." In The Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ), As a resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ appeared and taught the people on the American continent about His mission and atoning sacrifice and gave direction of how they were to organize His Church, (3 Nephi). We have a living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, who receives revelation and direction from our Lord and Savior for His Church today. In his conference address he said: "...communication with our Father in Heaven--including our prayers to Him and His inspiration to us--is necessary in order for us to weather the storms and trials of life. The Lord invites us, "Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me." As we do so, we will feel His Spirit in our lives, providing us the desire and the courage to stand strong and firm in righteousness--to "stand...in holy places and be not moved." (Nov. 2011 Ensign). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on earth with apostles and prophets who hold priesthood keys and receive revelation to direct his church. This is my testimony.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be of service to others. As captain of a ' Neighborhood Block Watch' for 25 homes in our community, serving for several years has given me the opportunity to really get to know, serve and love my neighbors in a small way. I’m a member of DUP (International Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers). It was organized 11 April 1901, solely for historical, educational, and public purposes and is completely non-political and non-sectarian. We are dedicated to honoring the names and achievements of the men, women, and children who founded Utah. We seek to encompass a broad scope of services, ranging from the preservation of historic landmarks to the education of thousands of school children and adults about their pioneer forebears. OUR HERITAGE IS OUR RESPONSIBILTY. IF WE ARE TO GO FORWARD, WE MUST LOOK AT OUR PAST. It's our responsibility to teach our families and children their heritage that they may understand it is their responsibility as well to preserve the memory of these pioneers. It’s an honor to be involved in such an organization as this. Doing volunteer service in the Mesa Arizona Temple for 15 years has been a joy to me. I hope to be able to serve there for a very long time. Many opportunities to serve in the church also enrich my life. Teaching children is rewarding when you see them understand the lessons that are being taught. This is the way I live my faith.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Ronna
Yes, the resurrected Savior appeared to the people who populated North America and organized His church as he did in the Old World. In 3 Nephi 27 we find His Gospel: a) Jesus' submission to the will of the Father (vs. 13) b) The Atonement (vs. 14) c) Resurrection (vs. 14-15) d) Judgment (vs. 14-15) e) Repentance (vs. 16,19-20) f) Baptism (vs. 16,19-20) g) Faith in Jesus Christ (vs.20) h) The Gift of the Holy Ghost (vs.20) i) Enduring to the end. (vs.16-17, 19) "The gospel of Christ is more than "the power of God unto SALVATION", it IS the power of God unto EXALTATION, and was instituted as such before this earth rolled into existence, before Adam fell, and consequently before man had need of redemption and salvation. It is the way of eternal progress, the path to perfection, and has been upon the earth in a series of dispensations reaching like a mighty chain from the days of Adam down to the present time."
