Hi I'm Melvin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have five children and five grandchildren. Professionally, I am a CPA and an attorney. I like do-it-yourself projects including making some improvements to a few acres of family land in southern Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Mormon family and was raised in the Church. I have never doubted the Church, even as a child. As a teenager, I began to feel for myself the truth of its teachings. Learning and then feeling the Holy Ghost speak to my heart of truths has been a continuing and life-long process. There are many important beliefs I have because I am a Mormon. One is that I can be with my family forever. This is especially meaningful to my wife and I as we lost our second daughter to Cystic Fibrosis just after she turned two years old. Knowing that we can be with her and the rest of our family after this life is very comforting. Finally, I think one of the most significant blessing from Heavenly Father is that we can each pray and receive answers. I believe we are real children of Heavenly Father and that he loves us and cares enough about us to help guide us in all areas of our lives.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is much more than just going to church. My faith also helps me as I try to live honestly and charitably at home, in my profession, and elsewhere. There are many opportunities to help others. One area I have been involved with is Boy Scouts. For many years I have loved being with young men as they have fun and develop life skills and as they develop into fine men, husbands, and fathers. Being in the outdoors is fun too. There are also other oppportunities to help , such as assisting in a move, fixing a screen door, or cleaning a neighborhood ditch bank, etc. GIving this type of service make me feel good inside and I feel like I am contributing to the community around me.
