Hi I'm Klara

I grew up in Hungary, now living in Switzerland. A retired sales accountant, I enjoy doing genealogy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Due to political unrest, I had to flee my home country of Hungary, together with my fiancé, at age 20. We found a new home in Switzerland, where we got married and eventually raised four children. Several years later, due to economical setbacks I needed to seek employment in order to sustain the family. I worked in tax administration, in accounting of a sales department, and several other jobs. I enjoy listening to classical music, watching a play at the theater, walking in nature, and traveling. Among the places that I have visited so far are the USA (over one year), Canada, Thailand, Turkey, and several European countries. I love spending time, and laughing, with people - my children and grandchildren, and my friends inside and outside the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

One day, when I was having a hard time emotionally, I tried to call my pastor. However, apparently I had dialed the wrong number because I was connected to the local mission office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The kind and friendly person at the other end referred me to the local missionaries, who were living right opposite my apartment. They visited me right away. However, I found it inapproporiate to burden these two young men with my personal problems, so they took me to meet the mission president's wife. This sweet lady listened to me and soothed me with kind words and beautiful spiritual music, and I found peace. Later, the missionaries visited me again. They gave me a Book of Mormon and challenged me to read specific passages and pray about them in order to learn for myself whether it was true. I took the challenge and soon received answers to my prayers. To this day the memory of these wonderful experiences continues to strengthen my faith in God and His eternal plan for me, that through the atonement of Jesus Christ I will be sustained and eventually saved.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I attend Church, which I enjoy very much. In my congregation, I chair a group of single people my age. We attend various activities together and enjoy each other's company. Every month I, together with an assigned companion, visit 3 ladies. We share a spiritual message, listen to their concerns, and help if we can. Until end 2011, I also helped in a Family History Center of the Church, assisting patrons in finding their ancestors.
