Hi I'm Richard

I am a retired salesman and a grandfather. I am a backgammon player, a singer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved to sing and have been in various choirs over the last 50 years. I sang with the "Mormon Tabernacle Choir" for sixteen years and traveled all over the world with them. I graduated in Deaf Education and taught for a year before becoming a salesman. I have loved playing backgammon with family and friends. I taught my children and grandchildren to play and had a daughter win a college backgammon championship! I have enjoyed doing family history research (genealogy) with my twin brother over the years. I used to enjoy fishing often, but the fishing luck diminished and I only fish occasionally. I like to read and have gone through thousands of books over the years in English and in French, (I learned French when I was serving as a service volunteer for two years in France).

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and over the years it has come to mean more and more to me because of the emphasis on family values in the "Mormon" faith. The concept of all people on earth being brothers and sisters has appealed to me. Our relationship to God as His children is very important to me. I believe that our existence is eternal and that we are to improve in all areas which we can and help all others to do the same. Service to others is a key expression of God's love!

How I live my faith

I am a service volunteer away from home for eighteen months. I enjoy teaching at our church and letting others know about the gospel of Jesus Christ where ever I meet them. I sing with the church choir and participate in singing at community events. I encourage our family to participate together in living the teachings of the church and try to be a good example to them. I try to conduct myself during the week as I would on Sundays.
