Hi I'm Daniel

I design underground mining machinery... I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a husband and a father of two. Just became a grandfather of a beautiful little girl. I am a designer by trade using CAD. I am currently also an electrician, a plumber, a carpenter... as we are doing a major remodeling of our daughter's house. I love music, playing guitar and bass guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 22 years old. I did not know I was searching for something... but I really was. I remember laying in the grass in the backyard of a friend I was staying with at that age... It was a clear night. Now, I guess I would have considered myself agnostic. As I looked up however, I said in my heart "God, are you really there?". I received no answer at that time, but some deep questions ran through my mind as I gazed into the beautiful starry sky. Only a short time thereafter, a friend of mine was increasing his activity in the Church. He and I had hung out on many occasions. He was not active in the Church but did have high enough standards that it kept me out of serious trouble in my teenage years. But now he and his wife were going to be married in the temple, and he asked me to be his best man, at the reception. He went to the chapel next to the Washington Temple to prepare to go to the temple, and I wandered the halls of the Church and found some literature to read. He then went to the temple to make some preparations and I sat in the car in the parking lot reading about the Word of Wisdom, God's law of health for His children. As I read that, I felt something telling me inside that this law was true, God did want me to care for my body. I decided that I better quit chewing tobacco, right now. At that point I had this really strong feeling that I needed to learn more about this Church, so I asked my friend. He said: "You need to talk to the missionaries". "Who?" I asked. I asked others at the reception and they said the same thing... "Talk to the missionaries". The feeling persisted with me all weekend, so Monday I called the missionaries in my home town and asked if I could talk with them. They made arrangements for me to talk with them in a member's home in the area. I listened, read, prayed and found what they taught was true. I was baptized withing a month or so.

How I live my faith

I have been a member for over 34 years now and have served in a lot of callings in the Church. I have recently been released as the congregational leader, called a bishop after serving there for 6-1/2 years. I was delighted to serve in a new position as a stake young men president, where I get to work with the youth. I love the youth!
