Hi I'm Denise Harris

I'm a mormon

About Me

I am a stay at home mother of 5. My current vehicle is a, white 12 passenger van and I couldn't be more happy about that. (My children say it is my dream car, but that is false. Functionality is the game right now) I love the saying ,"excuse the mess, memories being made." I have an amazing husband who works so hard for our family and we all adore him. In my free time I love to play volleyball, go for runs with friends, hike and really anything outdoors. We live in the middle of the city but have 10 chickens, raise bees for honey, and grow a somewhat successful garden. We live in a little neighborhood with a small town feel which is why we stay where we are.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon first because I was raised a Mormon. As I grew up I gained a testimony of my own. I first read the Book of Mormon myself my junior year of high school and decided it was time for me to decide what road I wanted to take in life. I knew it was true and have grown my testimony of its truthfulness since then. I have visited the Sacred Grove twice now and loved this experience but learned firsthand that any place you are can be transformed into your own "Sacred Grove". This morning we had morning prayers in our van before leaving to school and I felt the sweet spirit touch my heart. Looking at my family makes me so grateful for the plan of salvation and the knowledge that we will live in forever families because we were sealed in the temple. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith and the work that he did to restore this church on the earth. I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon as it is a companion to the bible. I have a testimony that we have a living prophet on this earth today President Monson, the same as prophets of old. I also know that Jesus Chirst was born, worked many miracles, was crucified on the cross and rose again. I also know that I too will rise again.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as the Primary President of my ward which means I get to spend time teaching and learning from children ages 18 months to 11 years old. I have been serving there for over 2 years now and it has been great. (trust me I have amazing helpers) I love being able to interact with most of these children on a daily basis living where I do and every Sunday on a (sometimes) more spiritual side. I love getting to know my neighbors and really do love my neighbors. With the economy as it is, we have lost some great neighbors and friends and are gaining new friends and neighbors. It is fun to start new neighborhood traditions. A few things we do is an annual service project (alley clean up), neighborhood barbecues, annual Christmas lights lighting ceremony for our neighbors, and fire pits in the driveway whenever we can.
