Hi I'm Maurine

I'm from northern Utah, got married and we had seven children. I lived in Argentina for two years as a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I had an incredible mother who taught us to care about those who have a hard time. Thats helped me care enough about others to dedicate a lot of time to help people. My children have brought me tremendous joy. I have seven children. The 6 living ones are all married and are very caring parents. They make me very proud. They are good Christians and responsible citizens in their communities. For me, family is a number one priority. I graduated from college in education, which enabled me to help my children to succeed in their schooling as well. I love to play the piano, especially Christian hymns. "How Firm a Foundation" is one of my absolute favorites! I love to sew and I've made quilts for all my children (when they got married) and for all my grandbabies' births! I do a lot of mending and make-overs with my sewing skills, which comes in handy when we want to save some money to spoil the grandkids. I love to garden and we grow a big garden every year with lots of vegetables and fruit trees. As a young woman, I was a missionary in Argentina for two years. That was forty years ago! How time flies! I loved the people and my missionary experience so much I've always wanted to serve a mission again! That's why my husband and I are in Alabama. We serve as missionaries for a small congregation in the Alabama countryside. We spend a large part of our time visiting members of the congregation who haven't come for a while and helping them return to Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

My Mom always told us bedtime stories and these stories were always from the scriptures. We grew to love those scripture heroes and admired them so much! We all wanted to become just like them when we grew up. They were always helping others, doing good in other's lives and truly showing their love for God's people, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They were not only helping people spiritually, but they were providing for them physically, especially those who were downtrodden, poor, sick and needy. They sacrificed and served selflessly, not desiring for any external reward. They loved our Savior Jesus Christ so much, they always wanted to keep his commandments and bring the wonderful tidings of the gospel truths to everyone they met! This was my goal! I wanted to become like these heroes and serve those around me. It didn't happen all at once! Over time I learned how to serve more and more and to learn to love others more and more. I felt I wanted the whole world to learn about our Savior Jesus Christ and his Gospel, because it provides solutions to all of daily challenges and teaches us how to return to live with God. I know that this message has helped me these ways. I know that it has helped my family to overcome challenges. It helps my family and me to accomplish our greatest desires.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to volunteer in many ways through the Church. I've taught Sunday School classes, served as secretary in a women's organizations, worked with scouting troops, helped organize and administer humanitarian aid and I've sewed countless articles of clothing and bedding to donate all around the world! My favorite calling in the Church was when I worked as a nursery leader with the Lord's precious, delightful children! I worked with children from one and half up to 3 year-olds! Serving children is my passion and is a tremendous blessing. Currently, my husband and I are volunteer missionaries in Alabama. We teach members of the congregation about Christ, we help train younger missionaries (the ones you usually see riding their bikes!) and we do whatever is asked of us so the Lord's work can move forward in helping all people.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Maurine
The Bible is a record of the ancient prophets in the Holy Land. It contains the teachings of Jesus Christ from Adam all the way through to Jesus Christ and his Apostles, until their deaths. It tells God's commandments, which are eternal. It teaches us what we must do in our mortal sojourn, as well as tells us the things we must do in order to return to live with our Heavenly Father. The examples of prophets in the Bible and their experiences have given me great strength to cope with all my challenges and trials in life. They have given me a desire to obey all His commandments, which will enable me to return to live with Heavenly Father. The Bible helps me to teach my children and all others that I love how they can return to live with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
