Hi I'm Erin

I'm an artist. I've lived in North America, Europe, and Africa, and now I'm serving a mission in Oceania. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sister missionary on the islands of French Polynesia! I have studied French for five years - ever since my family moved to Morocco (a Francophone country in northern Africa) my freshman year of high school. With my language experience, we wondered if I would be called to a French-speaking mission - and we were right, but we never guessed that I would be sent to Tahiti! Nevertheless, I am so grateful for my call and I know it's where I am meant to be. Before my mission, I attended my freshman year of college at Brigham Young University. I am currently studying Studio Arts, but I plan to major in Graphic Design. I love design and typography and I hope to one day be a book designer, so that I can combine my love of books with my love of art! Other things I enjoy include playing piano and ukulele, spending time with my family and adorable dog, and generally being a geek about certain books and TV shows. Besides Morocco, we've lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Northern Virginia, and Budapest, Hungary. Because I've traveled so much, I am even more excited to see a new part of the world in beautiful Tahiti.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been LDS my whole life. But I keep my faith simply because I know it is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true, which means Joseph Smith was a prophet and also means that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today, which means that the gospel is true. And most of all, I'm a Mormon because I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, My Father in Heaven, and the wonderful comfort that I receive from the Holy Ghost. I have a strong testimony that my Redeemer lives and that he loves me, and each of us. I also am thankful that I have the Spirit. I always have someone to guide, watch over, protect, and comfort me. The gospel has been dear to my heart throughout my life, and it scares me to think about where I would be without it! As my grandfather used to say, "everything I have ever achieved or accomplished has been because of the Gospel and its influence."

How I live my faith

I believe one of the best ways to live my faith is to "be an example of the believers" and demonstrate my faith in my words, actions, and deeds. I'm trying to be a little more loving, generous, and patient every day. That's probably one reason why I decided to serve a mission - what better way to learn love and charity than to spend every day as a representative of He who is the perfect example? It's also very special to me when I can use my talents to promote and inspire faith in others - whether it's through the piano or singing in a choir, or making artwork that can uplift me and those around me. On a mission I don't have much time for that sort of thing, however, so I hope to develop talents that are a bit harder to see, like optimism, teaching (and learning!), and love.
