Hi I'm Sylvia

I'm a descendent from a long line of strong Samoan women...I'm a passionate musician...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm all about the arts! Dance...music...THE WORKS!!! Music is my SOUL! I love making it, listening to it and sharing it! Dancing?! Love it! Do it often! NEVER gonna stop! =) I believe that smiles make the world go round. Why shake hands when you can hug?! Hot chocolate is a must on rainy days. I think that laughing is the world's best exercise. "Mistake" is another word for "learning opportunity." My main source of happiness comes from UPSTAIRS. I LOOOOOOOVE love! Emotions aren't really my thing, but when it comes to LOVE...I'm all about it! =) I looove the feeling of wind in my hair! Saying HI to EVERYONE is a good habit! Jam sessions always make for unforgettable memories. Work is essential for making dreams come true. I love being part of the 5% of Polynesians in Idaho! =) I am thankful for the trials I've had...yes...even the unexpected ones. My baby sister is my inspiration to be a better person. I love my family to pieces and I love my Redeemer. 3

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I love my family! And I know that this gospel and church is the only way that I can be with them forever. The love I have for them and the love they have for me is the most real thing to me. I've seen the changes the gospel can make in MY OWN FAMILY...nieces and nephews getting baptized, cousins realizing all the good they blew away and then CHOOSING TO MAKE JESUS CHRIST A PART OF THEIR LIVES, an aunty COMING BACK to church after 15 years...changes like this don't just happen! Only the TRUTH HAD POWER like that. Like many born in the church, I THOUGHT I COULD DO IT ALONE. Little by little I CHANGED MY LIFE...starting with the FAITH to realize that I was missing something in my life...and then a DESIRE to do something about it. HE CHANGED ME...because I finally LET HIM. Now life is amazing! I'm the happiest I've ever been. I know that He's got my back! And I KNOW it's never too late when speaking of the love of our Savior and Father in Heaven and we can never go too far...we are never out of reach with His love and power as long as we are willing to let Him in...I mean...the Church isn't meant for perfect people...and perfect is something I'm definitely NOT...that's why I'M A MORMON.

How I live my faith

I love planning activities where members and non-members can all come together and just have a good time. We are a happy people!!! The more the merrier!!! =) There is so much love in the church! I love getting together with members of the Singles Branch and just hanging out...doing things that don't cost money and things that allow us to keep the Spirit with us. Sometimes I help my mom teach her class at church! I love the youth!!! They are a group of some of the most amazing people in the world....there's no doubt that they're going to GREAT things. I also love doing service in my free time! Helping people is probably one of my favorite things to do because not only do I get to help someone in need, but it helps me forget about things that might be happening in my own life. I've found that if you concentrate on someone else needs, your own problems kind of just melt away! That's the best!!! =) When I can, I help out in the community and try to put what little talent I have to good use for community events. When I get the opportunity to participate in the community, I NEVER FORGET WHAT I STAND FOR, WHAT I BELEIVE AND WHO I AM.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Sylvia
Family is just about EVERYTHING! It's where it all starts; I mean, the look on a child's face when they open presents at Christmas, the tears of a father when he holds his newborn for the first time, or a wife's timeless smile when her husband comes home with flowers just because...it's in the family that we have our first glimpse at TRUE happiness! Everything we do and believe focuses on the family because there is no way that we can make it alone in the world. Everyday children enter into a changing society with changing values...but with the guidance of the Gospel, parents have a way to raise their children with the right sense of direction; towards Heavenly Father. We have families not only to bring us joy, but also to help us through the hard times and to pull us through the struggles that we face everyday! Families are already like a built in support system and wtih the gospel, we can tap into a strength that not only brings us closer to each other, but also to Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Sylvia
There is nothing better than experience to increase your faith. As faith is tested by fire, it becomes stronger. Having FAITH IN CHRIST helps us stay AWARE OF HIS LOVE AND POWER. Joseph Smith taught, "We are never more like our Savior than when we offer obedience in the face of affliction." It's always easier to remember Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when things are going well, but when things get rough then what? Joseph Smith said in the FACE OF AFFLICTION, not on the sidelines, not in the bleachers...right there on the line. When we're "in the game" the whole objective is to get ahead, to push forward. Easy??? No! :) But having faith in Jesus Christ helps us see that WITH HIM WE CAN AND WILL OVERCOME EVERYTHING THAT'S STOPPING US FROM GETTING BACK HOME. As we continue to CHOOSE to live righteously, OUR FAITH GROWS. As our faith grows, OUR FAITH IN CHRIST PILOTS OUR LIFE. Show more Show less
