Hi I'm Whit

I'm an Army Brat. I love my family. I love learning languages. I'm disabled. I have the world's best service dog. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 21 and a college student. I love working with children, teaching them, and learning from them. During my freshman year I was diagnosed with mental illness, and have spent the last few years learning to live with, and overcome, my disability. I have an amazing service dog, Austin. I love German and American Sign Language, and I love to travel. DIY crafts, reading, and learning are the biggest of my hobbies. I'm an avid movie-goer, and I like to see it ALL. I'm an army brat and proud of it! My family is a strong unit and my sisters make my world go round!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a soldier's daughter, the only stability I had was my family. Moving so often made it difficult for our family to find a church, because they never really taught the same things or the same way. My parents eventually stopped going to church, but the desire was always in their hearts. When the church found me, the missionaries told me of a global network all with the purpose of serving Him. The teachings were the same, the interpretations were the same, and the beliefs were the same. Many different things appealed to me about the church, not just the uniformity. The main thing was that no matter where I went I would be able to know exactly where I would go to church, and I would never be confused.

How I live my faith

I help plan our Wednesday night activities. I love to feed the Missionaries and enjoy the opportunity to help out wherever I can.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No! We believe in helping everyone! Joseph Smith taught to help people "whether in this church, or any other, or in no church at all." People are people no matter where they belong or come they from, and Jesus Christ did not discriminate and help those who followed him. We are taught to help and love everyone, and to follow the examples of our Lord, Savior, and Prophets. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Mormon lifestyle revolves heavily around the desires of the Lord. We read our scriptures and pray daily, and on Sunday we go to church. We have Family Home Evening, where we learn the scriptures with our family, and that's once a week. God is present to us everyday, and through him we are able to be happy, and whole. There are many keystones to the Mormon lifestyle, things like charity, kindness, and acceptance. My favorite is charity. Whenever I help others I get the opportunity to lead by example. I find strength in helping others, because I know that I am following the example of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
