Hi I'm Nainoa Christian

I'm from Hawaii, I love sports and the beach, I'm a convert, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Nainoa, I'm a college student, and I'm from Hawaii. Being from Hawaii, I grew to love the ocean and the beach. Anything to do with the ocean, I absolutely love. When I'm not at the beach, I love playing sports. I did football, track, wrestling, volleyball, and a few other sports in high school. The reason behind my hobbies is my family. Growing up, the beach and sports were the two things that kept my family close. Even today, we still go to the beach together and play sports together as well. Lets just say there's enough members in my family to make a baseball team. I love my family, sports, the beach, and I love being a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, my mother used to take myself, and my siblings to different Christian Sects. We never stuck with one. As for me personally I didn't feel like I was learning anything. I didn't know why I needed to go to church and I didn't feel a purpose for it. However, even though I didn't feel a need to go to church, I remember asking myself a few questions. The first one and probably the most important to me at the time was, "What is the purpose of all this, meaning life?" Honestly I didn't want to think that everything we do here on earth, amounts to nothing. I knew everyone must die and no one was exempt from it so what's the point of life? This question also went hand in hand with another question I thought about often. The question was, "Is this it?" Meaning, is there anything that happens after death? At the age of 16 or so, these questions were running through my mind. One day when I came home from school, my mom told me that we would be having missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints coming over for dinner. I didn't mind. This meeting with the missionaries was the first time I ever heard about them and this was the first time I heard the name mormons. I can remember that in our first meeting, they talked about the Joseph Smith and his first vision and thinking about it now, I've never denied it or disbelieved it. However what I remember the most was, as they were leaving, the mentioned the Plan of Salvation which would tell us about where we came from, why we are here, and where are we going? After learning about the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Plan of Salvation, myself and my siblings were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After being baptized into the church my life has changed. I like to say that I've lived in two worlds and that I've seen what both worlds can offer. The life and world that Heavenly Father has given me has been "a blessing so great as (I) never have known."(D&C 39:10)

How I live my faith

Since being baptized into the church, I've had many opportunities to serve and Live what I Know to be true. I believe it was one of our church leaders who said something along of the lines of, "our faith is our life style." I had the opportunity a few years ago to serve a two-year full-time mission in the country of Japan. It was probably the best experience of my life thus far. It allowed me the opportunity to share with Japanese people the things that I learned to be true. Since coming, I've had many more opportunites to teach and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with members and non-members as the Gospel doctrine teacher and now as the Ward Mission Leader. These two positions within the church, has allowed me the chance to not only help others in furthing their knowledge and faith in the Gospel but mine as well. Being a junior, almost senior, in college, time is really constrained. With school work, a part-time job, socializing ,and church responsibilites, its awesome to see the things that I accomplish. I know this is only due the help of my Heavenly Father. I know that as I further my faith in Heavenly Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ, I will be blessed. I know that God is my Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is His only Begotten Son. I know that Jesus Christ has atoned for my sins and it is only because of Him that I am able to repent and receive forgiveness for my sins. I know that it is through Him that one day, I'll be able to return to the presense of my Heavenly Father. I know that Joseph Smith was the Lord's chosen vessel and Prophet. I know that Heavenly Father continues to speaks to His chosen Prophet today. I know that Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for allowing me to learn of these truths and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
