Hi I'm Jim McArthur

Hi, I am a Mormon. I am 71 years old, self employed and retired. Happily Married 48 years, 7 married children 31 grandchildren.

About Me

I am a father of seven married children. We have 31 grand children. I have been married to my college sweetheart for 48 years. After graduating from Brigham Young University I spent four years in the air force. I spent time at Lackland AFB, Chanute AFB in Illinois and Anderson AFB on Guam. For the past 31 years our family has owned and operated an R.V. Resort. We have met thousands of wonderful people from all over the world. We love to hunt, fish, camp and just enjoy the out of doors. I speak Japanese and love the asian people. I have children living in Nevada and Utah. My wife and I have had the opportunity to live in Japan for several years, and recently have moved to Nauvoo, Illinois to serve as a volunteer at the Nauvoo Temple for three years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the great faith shown by my great great grandfather who joined the Mormon Church in the early 1800's. He was a pioneer that came from Vermont to Illinois and then to Utah. He was one of 300 families that settled the community that we now live in. All of his descendents in my line have stayed strong in the faith. Each of us has gained our own personal testimony of the absolute divinity of Jesus Christ as the literal Son of God. We have felt of His love and tender mercy to each of us. We all have a personal testimony of the personal visitation of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ to the young boy, Joseph Smith. This spiritual witness came to me as a teenager while attending seminary classes. The witness and testimony became even stronger as I studied the life of Joseph Smith and his personal experience with God and His Son Jesus Christ. I have felt that same sweet witness many times over the past 50 plus years. I have witnessed for my self the marvelous blessing it has been and still is to have living prophets today to help us know God's will today as we raise our families and live in these great and sometimes difficult times. I have tested the teachings of Jesus Christ and found them to be the greatest guide to happiness in this world. I invite you to do the same. It has been the most marvelous blessing of my life and the life of my posterity. While living in Nauvoo Illinois I have been able to walk the streets where my early ancestors walked and have felt the pioneer spirit that still resides here. I have found relatives that still live in the area that are not of our faith. It is exciting to be able to connect with relatives that I have never known here in the area. We are all children of a loving Father in Heaven that wants us all to return to him with our families. I truly believe that families can truly be together for ever and invite anyone that reads this to sincerely search for the truths that I have found.

How I live my faith

My Faith is the basis of all of my personal goals in life. It is a guiding influence in every decision I make on a daily basis. I believe that every person on this earth is a son or daughter of a loving Heavenly Father and that influences the way that I deal with everyone. I love to study the words of the living prophets and read the words of prophets and disciples of Christ in the scriptures. I enjoy reading from the diaries of my ancestors as they share accounts of becoming converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through prayer and study I have had a personal witness of the truthfulness of the account of the First Vision of the prophet Joseph Smith. I know he is a prophet of God and have no doubt of the authenticity of the Prophet Joseph Smith seeing and talking with God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I have gained a personal testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I have studied the content, read the book several times and tested the truths found there in. They are true and I have felt the Spirit of the Lord witness to me of their truthfulness.
