Hi I'm Patty!

I was born in California and guess what? I love everything about the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being from southern California, I wish I could say I was a surfer or something exciting like that. But my favorite place for vacation is going to see our darling grand kids (two very cute little girls) and then go down the California coast. Then after we get way sunburned, we go back to see the girls again. It seems we do most of our vacationing visiting family. It is always the best of times! My husband is my high school sweetheart reconnected after many years. After he learned how much Mormonism was a way of life for me, he decided to investigate. He decided to join the church, much to my joy and his.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized with my parents when I was 9. My sisters were older and were out of the house, so they were not around when the missionaries were teaching us. So my parents and I went to church together............for awhile. Then it became easier to stop going as I got older. My friends in high school were not the best. Well, eventually I went to college after moving to Washington. Finding friends was a difficult thing for me, so I started associating with "friends" that were hanging out at bars on the weekends. It is amazing to me how the spirit can work on us. I increasingly became uncomfortable with those I was hanging out with. So I started to go visit my sister on the weekends who by now joined the church. We would go together to meetings where special speakers would give sermons. At one of the meetings a "sister", as women members are called, spoke from the Book of Mormon about planting a seed of faith. She was a wonderful speaker, funny and very interesting. The message was about exercising faith and trying an "experiment". The experiment was to exercise a small particle of faith, even if it were no more than a desire to believe on the words of Jesus Christ, and see if it would grow in your heart. She taught that if it were a good seed, it would grow into something most exquisite and beautiful. So from her message I wanted to try reading the Book of Mormon. As I started to read so many wonderful things began to happen in my heart. I felt such amazing joy and understanding about Jesus Christ and that He loved me! Amazing as it was, I began to even understand things in the Bible that were enlarged upon in the Book of Mormon. The Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand. I love these scriptures and I know they are true. I love the Savior and I know He lives and loves me. Such blessings that have come to me which all started by reading the Book of Mormon with a sincere desire to come closer to God. The experiment worked!

How I live my faith

Since the "mighty change" of heart that I experienced, I dug right in to become fully involved in church activities and responsibilities. My faith has kept growing just like I was taught some years ago. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is truly a "good seed" that forever grows in my heart. I have been involved with the Church (teenage) youth groups, the women's organization and the young children's organization too. All of it keeps me very busy. I currently work with the young children's organization and love it. My husband and I go to the temple often. That is a very special and loving experience each time we go. That same spirit that has worked with me over the years is felt in the temple too! My husband and I enjoy the semi annual Church Conferences. We always plan on these special meetings where we get inspiring counsel from our Church leaders. We enjoy praying and worshiping together every Sunday. We have wonderful family that, even though they do not know about the Church, we have every confidence and hope that they will someday be taught and know as we do. We truly believe that families can be together forever. We have faith that our loving Father in Heaven will help us.
