Hi I'm William Ray Burk

I'm a college student. I'm a high school math tutor. I love to smile! :) And I'm a Mormon who knows the Savior lives! :)

About Me

Hi, I'm William. I usually go by Will, but William's fine, or Willum, Billy, or Willybillybob, whichever is preferred :) I am a college freshmen in Utah, and I am also a math tutor at a local High School. I love music, math, and science, and I probably like electronics a little too much :) I am an engineering major, and will most likely go into Bio-medical Engineering. I have suffered from severe mental illness, and to the everlasting credit of my God, such is rarely the case anymore. I have definitely lived the definition of depression and can relate to a lot of people in the world. My heart goes out to anyone who ever has, ever does, or ever will deal with mental illness. If anyone needs a shoulder to cry on, mine is available. If anyone just needs someone to understand, I'm listening. And if anyone needs a friend, I'll probably have befriended you before you realized the need :D I love people, and I take joy in being outgoing, positive, and true!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, under the covenant, to two amazing and wonderful parents. They taught me how to truly live as a disciple of Jesus Christ, and have been patient with me through thick and thin. I love them very much! I also love my family, relatives, and friends. Without all of them, I'm not sure if I would have survived 6 years of aggravating Bipolar disorder. At the age of 8, I was baptized and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was given my first set of scriptures, and I treasured them as one of my most prized possessions. I first finished The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ around the age of 12 or 13, just after I had been ordained as a deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. I have read the Book of Mormon several times, and to this day enjoy opening its pages as often as possible. I know for myself that The Book of Mormon is true, because I have personally experienced several promises recorded by ancient prophets in that sacred text. I also have given myself to daily prayer to my Father in Heaven and have learned from the Holy Ghost, who witnesses of the Father and the Son, that Jesus is the Christ, God is the Eternal Father, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true and living church with the Living Christ at its head. I know that Pres. Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet and that the First Presidency and Twelve Apostles are prophets, seers, and revelators. I have learned these things through much prayer, fasting, study, and endurance, and I know that there is not a single son or daughter of God that cannot come to this same witness. I know that Jesus truly did Atone for the sins of all mankind, and that He has truly taken upon himself all of our infirmities, heartaches, and sicknesses. I know that He rose up from the grave on the third day. And most of all, I know that I am a son of Heavenly Father who loves me with a perfect love!

How I live my faith

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a member, I fully accept the command to spread the gospel to all the world. I love sharing the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others, so they too can bask in the light and blessings that come from making covenants with their Heavenly Father, and find that happiness that can only be found by a humble follower of Jesus Christ. I live my faith by lifting, loving, and serving around me, and brightening one sad face at a time. I have a strong belief in the power of "How are you?" coupled with a big smile :D Doing so has not only brightened other's days, but also mine! I also live my faith by keeping the commandments of my Heavenly Father, including the ten commandments. I strongly believe and doing a good turn daily, and fulfilling my duty to God and my country. I also serve my Maker by worthily holding His power and authority given to man on earth, even the Priesthood, and exercising that power and authority in righteousness to bless other's lives. I obey the counsels of the living Prophet and the Apostles, and all of my church leaders. And one thing I try hard to do is to honor my parents. I do so by being obedient and not questioning their counsels. In saying all of this, I want to humbly admit that I am far from perfect, but I can at least say that I am doing my best to progress towards that goal :)

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

William Ray Burk
I have truly been blessed to have been brought up in a home where I about God the Eternal Father, and His son Jesus Christ. But I have come to my own personal witness that I have a Heavenly Father, and I am His son, and that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and bore my sorrows, sicknesses, and grief. I can say that a lot of things tell me there is a God. The very fact that I exist, that I have thoughts and feelings that no one else can feel or understand, that I am different and unique, is a huge evidence to me. Another evidence that I find every single day is simple tender mercies from my Heavenly Father showing me that He not only exists, but knows who I am, what my heart's desires are, and all that I am going through. I have said silent prayers that have been answered in such a personal way every day that I cannot deny that I have a Heavenly Father, and that He is everyone's Father! I know this is true, and I wish everyone knew, because if everyone knew this, that they are a son or daughter of an Exalted Father in Heaven who loves them with a perfect love, peace would truly abound worldwide. The strongest evidence of the existence of a God is the evidence of the Power of the Atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ. I have felt its cleansing effects in a very sweet and personal way, and so I testify with all my heart and soul that God the Eternal Father and His beloved Son Jesus Christ live! I know they love you and me! I bear this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Show more Show less
