Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon. I am retired, live in Atlanta Ga. Grew up on a ranch in southern Utah.

About Me

Peru was where I served a full time mission for the Church. Then it was the Andes Mission, now there are over half a dozen missions there. I have retained my fluency in Spanish, and in addition have acquired some ability in German and Greek. I am an avid musician, play trumpet, piano, guitar, accompany performances, generally enjoy any and all music. Poetry and fiction writing are my other favorite pastimes.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ as set forth in the Book of Mormon got my attention in such a way that I have to acknowledge its truth. I cannot read that book without setting it down and declaring to who ever is near, or to the room if I'm alone: "This is so clear and simple, why did I not know this before?" Even though I've read it many times, I still find myself saying that. That all started when I was 19 and in the Mission Home, and made an appointment with Elder Ballard. I told him I didn't know if the Book of Mormon was from God or not, and maybe I shouldn't serve a mission. He contemplated me for a moment, then said, as near as I can remember "You do have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Go serve your mission and quit wasting my time." I decided to test what he said through prayer and study, and he was right.

How I live my faith

I have married in the Temple, served continuously throughout my life in many callings. My favorite calling of all was as Primary pianist. As I recently told my High Priest Group Leader, when it comes to having fun in the Gospel, the High Priests aren't even in the game. Primary is where it's at. Unfortunately, I am serving currently on the High Council, and my dreams of returning to a Primary pianist position are probably remote. I advise a Spanish Branch.
