Hi I'm Georgie!

I have been a cage fighter, a sales manager, and an IT consultant. I'm a self-confessed travel-addict, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Georgie, I am an aspiring Hipster, I love a buttered crumpet, and the smell of new books. Or old books. Books in general smell good... Although my family are Christian, the values of the Mormon church never resonated with me. At age 17 I distanced myself. I would attend sporadically, but could easily excuse myself for travel, sports, or social engagements. I am an adrenaline junkie, and want to go bungee jumping and sky diving in the near future! My need for all-things-exciting has lead me to play on several football and rugby teams, I have competed in MMA, and on occasion I've been known to remove my USB stick without safely ejecting it! I was a sales manager for a while, and an IT web consultant before that. Although I loved working in down-town London, eventually the 70+ hours a week began to drag. What once was exciting, was suddenly not much fun. I began chasing my next "buzz" - rugby and MMA gave me a steady supply of violence and masculinity, but the games would end with the final whistle. Football was fun - none of us were particularly graceful on the pitch but we put on a good show with a few skills and goals. Eventually I got involved with weight lifting, and found myself in a world of performance-enhancing supplements and shakes, pills and capsules of every shape, colour and size. I realized that my lifestyle was unsustainable. Sooner or later, I was going to eat/drink/do/say something that would get me in trouble. What I needed was real happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

That "happiness" I felt my life lacked, was found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was found in the restored truths, that were given to Joseph Smith and other modern day prophets. I find that joy surpasses all other pleasures in life! We have a living prophet who guides me in modern-day problems. We have more revealed scripture - I don't believe God is limited to the instruction he can give. I believe in a living, loving God who knows his children. I believe that we can receive forgiveness from our sins through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through service, gratitude and trying my best at everything! I love to teach others about Jesus Christ and how he can help them personally. I love the slogan "be an example at all times, and when necessary; use words". I try and live in a way that if people wanted to learn about Christ, and how He lived, they could look at my life. Of course, I fall far from the mark most days... But I try again the next! Serving others in the community is such a blessing to those I serve, and also to me! It helps me feel closer to my Saviour, to do the things He would have done if He was here. On days where I haven't been as good at this as I should have, I stay positive. I find that being grateful for the blessings in my life helps me to understand God's love for me - and that inspires me to strive more diligently in the future!
