Hi I'm Karon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home wife and mom with all our children grown. It seems that life is just as hectic and busy now that most of my children are older and out of the house as it was when they were home. I enjoy working on my family history, reading anything and everything, gardening, and learning new things. It doesn't matter what it is just as long as I can learn something new. I volunteer at the local elementary school, helping children check out library books. Also, at the hospital helping in the newborn intensive care unit holding and feeding babies. I help teach at another elementary school teaching 5th graders about gardening and different ecological topics.I enjoy being outside and taking walks with my husband and playing with our dogs and visiting with family and friends. I joined the Church when I was a freshman in College. I am so glad that this source of joy is mine to share. There is so much to learn about the world and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was a freshman in College here in Alabama. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. He loves me when I am not worthy and don't love myself. He is someone I can look up to and know that He is still there. I truly believe that if I had not found the Church when I did I would be dead. I always wanted to try different things and the bad and evil looked more appealing that the good activities. I was wrong and when I learned that I was loveable and had a value to someone like my Heavenly Father it helped me to see that I needed to take care of myself and try to become someone better than I was at the time. I hope that I have become better than I was when I was 18. I know that I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They have been the constant factors in my life thru marriage, divorce, remarriage and children, parents growing older and friends dying. I know I lived with them as a Spirit before I was born and will live with them again after I die and leave this place. I know that the Lord did not leave us here on Earth to wander with out guidance. We have a Prophet to lead and guide us just as in the days of the Old Testament . I am just as important to Him as someone who lived in the days of Moses. I am very grateful for the knowledge that I have.

How I live my faith

I try to read my scriptures every day. Notice I say try. Sometimes I just forget or put it off. But I know it is important. When I am asked to do something in the Church whether is is cleaning the Church building or teaching a class I give it my best. I have made sure my family attends Church services each Sunday. We have family prayer and scripture and have a Family night each week. I know and visit my neighbors. I visit several women in my congregation on a monthly basis. This is called Visit Teaching. I have a companion who is assigned to me as well as the ladies I visit. I have made some great friends by Visit Teaching thru the years. I have taught the young children, older children, teen-agers and adults. Right now I teach what is called Seminary. It is an early morning religion class for High School age kids. They come to my house at 6 in the morning and I teach for almost an hour. On Friday we play games or have activities that help to remember what was taught earlier. This year we are learning about the Old Testament. It is amazing. I love the Old Testament. It has always been my favorite book of scripture, I guess because of the stories but now, as a teacher I have learned so much more than the stories. I know God is eternal and loves all his children and has thru-out all of the Earth's history. I am so happy to have had this time to learn and teach others what I have learned. God lives and He loves us!
