Hi I'm Kate

I am the third of twelve children. I illustrate children's books. I'm a Mormon. I

About Me

I am the mother of five children ages 27-14. My favorite thing to do is be a wife and a mother because my family brings me the greatest joy. Ever since I was a child, I have always loved to draw. I remember asking for pads of sketching paper for Christmas and filling them with drawings. Through my life, I have used that talent to create wood crafts that I sold in boutiques, learned to oil paint and water color and I am now illustrating children's books. I also love to shop! Thrift stores are my favorite places to find bargains. My family is pretty musical so it gives me the opportunity to serve on our local high school's orchestra booster's organization.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! Why? Because the teachings of this church have blessed me throughout my life. They have given me a strong and sure foundation of who I am, why I am here on this earth and where I will go after this earth life. To know who I really am, a daughter of a loving Father in Heaven, gives me a strong desire to move forward in my life with hope and faith. The doctrines of this church are simple and true. I know this because I have asked in prayer to know if they are true, and the Holy Spirit has witnessed to me that they are. What a wonderful blessing; to be able to receive for ourselves our own witness. Even though I have had trials and challenges in my life, I have been blessed with much peace and happiness because of the knowledge I have that Heavenly Father and the Savior live and love us. They watch over us and guide our lives in a very personal way.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different capacities in my ward and stake. I have taught young children, in the organization called Primary. I've taught teenage girls in the Young Women's organization. I have been asked to put together meetings for the adult women where we eat, visit, give service and just have fun together. I also am able to go with another lady from my ward to visit three other ladies in our ward. We visit them each month to share a spiritual message and to see how they and their families are doing. It's our way of taking care of one another, as the Savior has taught us to. As I have served in these many ways, I have grown so much. I have been able to develop my talents, share them with others, and find new ones! I know that the Lord has blessed me with talents and He wants me to use them to serve and be a blessing to His children. In doing so, I too have been so very blessed in return.
