Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a student. A daughter. A sister. A friend. A follower of Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have an amazing family that consists of loving parents and three handsome brothers. I love sports, I love music, and I love my friends. I'd do anything for the people I care about most! I hate goodbyes more than anything. I have an obsession with elephants. My favorite thing in the world is making others laugh. My favorite color is red. And my Savior is my very best friend!!

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony is not dependent on the circumstances I was born into or the righteous parents I was blessed with. Just like anybody who yearns to know if the Church is true, I had to find out for MYSELF. I still remember the exact moment that I knew. From that day forth I have never forgotten the feelings of warmth and peace and great happiness that I felt. Some days it's harder for me to remember those feelings, some days I'm slower to kneel in prayer, some days I neglect to turn to my scriptures, and some days the weight of trials and life's disappointments appear much too hard to bear. But days like that remind me that I have a loving Savior who cares about me, loves me, wants me to succeed, and has atoned for my sins and shortcomings. Through Him my weaknesses become my strengths. Through Him my faith is increased each new day. Through Him I can live again.

How I live my faith

Abstaining from things like sex, drugs, alcohol, swearing, or immodest clothing is a lifestyle for me. They aren't just rules or regulations I have because I'm a Mormon, I choose to live this way because it makes me happy and really simplifies life! I like surrounding myself with good friends that make it easier to live my faith. Bad peer pressure is always hard to overcome, so involving myself with uplifting people makes me better through their examples and love.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Being a Mormon is really not as difficult as people make it out to be! A lot of my non-member friends think we have too many restrictions and rules that regulate and restrain our lives- but I disagree. Living with the high standards I've been taught to have has actually given me more freedom. As I strive to keep the commandments and the covenants I've made, I avoid the heartache and pain that choosing wrong decisions would otherwise bring me. Being a member of the LDS church is like being a part of a huge family that extends around the whole world! It's comforting to know that I can go virtually anywhere and still meet people who believe what I believe and hold the same standards and values I hold. Show more Show less
