Hi I'm Jamie

I am a stay at home mom of 4 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mom of four energetic little kids. I was born in Oklahoma, and raised in Utah. As a youth I filled my day with school, flute and piano lessons, ballet and marching band. I attended Utah State University where I studied to become an elementary teacher. After only a short year I got married for time and all eternity. Shortly after we moved Portland and Boise. Because life never goes exactly as planned we moved back to Utah and started our own company. In the mean time we started our family. In 2007 we had more "not in our plan" events that caused us to re-evaluate where we were and what we were doing. The next spring we took a leap of faith, sold our house and went back to school in 2008. Now my husband is close to finishing his PhD and I continue to work on my degree online. I really have a passion for elementary education and hope to teach to children who are less fortunate than we are. I fill my days taking care of my husband and our four kids. There is never a dull moment between dishes, laundry that doesn't seem to end, cooking, scrubbing crayon off the walls and food off the floor and assisting the kids with homework. In my "spare time" I enjoy my photography, baking, reading, traveling and a good movie. My life may be a little crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me to learn more about the Savior, who I am and other questions about life. I love the knowledge that I have and the joy and peace that I feel everyday. I am a Mormon because I have studied the Book of Mormon and asked for myself, in prayer, if it was true. The peace and clarity of mind that sweeps over me tells me that it is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I think it is fascinating how history and archaeology verify the truths from the Book of Mormon. I am Mormon because I love to worship God. I love going to church on Sunday no matter where I am and knowing that it will be the same teachings, the same spirit, and that I will have friends with the same standards that I have. The church challenges us to be better everyday and live life in a way that brings us closer to our Savior. Some may question my daily practices and think they are to big of a sacrifice, but I am happy to do them because I love the Savior and what he has done for me. They are small ways to show my love for Him and that I will stand as a witness.

How I live my faith

I am a daughter of God and I try to live in a way that reflects that. I keep a close relationship with my Heavenly Father by praying and reading the Book of Mormon daily. This allows me to find peace and hope in the decisions I make daily. I choose not do or take anything that I might become addicted to so that I can always be myself around my family and friends and be in control of decisions I make. I choose to dress modestly so that others know that I respect myself and I am confident with who I am. I serve as a leader over 14 and 15 year old girls and try to help them see their own individual worth and divine nature as we do weekly and monthly activities. I visit other women in our church to make sure they are doing well and that their needs are met. All of these things help to strengthen me and gives me knowledge that we are never alone. It helps me remember that our Heavenly Father cares about us and uses us to help take care of his children.
