Hi I'm Ben

I make music as an audio engineer and a producer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a musician all of my life from singing with the radio and at church as a kid to performing in rock bands as a teenager and adult. I have found a way to do what I love while still holding true to my values as a Mormon. Many musicians find themselves tossed through an emotion roller coaster of amazing highs during performances and magical musical moments to depressing lows in a small empty apartment or monotonous tour bus. Many performers indulge in sex and drugs to try and maintain those moments of euphoria from their performances. I've found that the peace and spiritual highs that come from a Christ-centered life make the musical highs pale in comparison. I still enjoy those magical moments, but they are just part of my daily happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to church in a strong family. I had my doubts as a teenager, but I kept forging down the path that I felt was right and I found myself on a mission wondering why I never had a miraculous conversion. It was then that I realized that my life had been filled with spiritual moments where the Holy Ghost was constantly testifying of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to me. I knew then that I had my testimony and as I shared it as a missionary it grew. As I shared it as a home teacher and Sunday school teacher it grew. As I shared it as a husband and father it grew. As I live the gospel my testimony and my spiritual perspective grow. The Spirit continues to teach me and testify of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as I do my best to follow the commandments and live His Gospel.

How I live my faith

I always find myself working with the young men at church. I think that it is because my maturity level is similar to theirs, or maybe I just can relate with them. I currently teach the Sunday school class for the 15 to 18 year old young men and young women. It is often difficult to get them to stop talking about school and friends and have them focus on the lesson, but when they do we have some of the most spiritual moments. I've found that the key to being a teacher is loving my students. When they feel the love from me, they feel the spirit and it teaches them. This is what Christ did and it is the reason why we serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, to learn to be like Him.
