Hi I'm Brittany

I love to laugh. I love to be with my best friend, my husband. I'm a Special Education Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old and I am the second oldest out of 4 children. I have an older sister and two younger brothers. I was born in Arizona and have basically lived here my whole life; however, when I was really young I lived in Washington for 4 years while my dad was in dental school. Since my mom was born and raised in Japan, we made frequent family trips there that have given me great memories. As a child and teenager, I enjoyed playing instruments: the violin and piano. I also enjoyed playing sports: softball, soccer, swimming. Throughout my life, school has always been important to me and I love learning new things! I was fortunate enough to attend Arizona State University and obtain a degree in Special Education and General Education. I was even more fortunate to find a job right out of college; I am a Primary Special Education Teacher! I couldn't have picked a better job for me. I love teaching such special kiddos! They can be a handful at times, but seeing their growth is worth every minute of it. They are a joy to see each weekday. I enjoy crafts, cooking, and laughing- lots of laughing. My husband and I met and dated in high school. I was lucky to have met him in the school cafeteria (out of all places...) He treats me like a queen. He is a huge blessing in my life. We got married in March 2009. We are hoping to start our family in the near future; I can't wait to be a mother. :)

Why I am a Mormon

As a young girl, I remember feeling the love and concern of a loving Heavenly Father. These feelings of love and concern of my well being continued throughout my life, in varying circumstances. The Spirit of God has let me feel of His love, God's love. I know that God loves each of us personally. I know he cares about our little concerns as well as our large ones. Because of this love, he has sent a Savior to us... to redeem us. I know this. I am a Mormon because I have prayed to God to see if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ... and I can say that it does. I have felt of its truthfulness and have studied it's words. The Book of Mormon does not replace the Bible, but complements it. It gives us truth and contains more of God's words. It is a book that teaches us right principles and helps us want to become better people, much like the bible does. Throughout my life I have had spiritual experiences that I treasure; they are reassurances that God lives, he loves us, he wants to help us, he is mindful of us, and he wants to bless us. We can have a personal relationship with him through prayer and faith. He will answer our questions, if we but listen and believe that he is listening and will answer. I am a Mormon because the gospel teaches us how to live our life in such a way that we can feel peace, love, and true happiness. Being a Mormon doesn't mean we won't face disappointments, trials, stress, and pain, but it helps us get through it with the knowledge that is given to us. This gospel teaches us where we came from, why we are here, and what comes after this life. Knowing the answers to these questions, as well as knowing that we have a kind Heavenly Father, helps give me hope, peace, and happiness in this life.. even with all the craziness around us. In the end, I know God and His truth will prevail.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping God's commandments. I am not perfect, but I try my hardest to follow them. With the standards of the world ever changing, keeping these standards are getting harder but I know that by living the way God wants each of us to live, I will be blessed. I have faith that He will. It seems like everything in my life is guided by my faith: the way I dress, communicate, interact, as well as numerous other things. I know that God listens; I pray to Heavenly Father for guidance, support, and help. In the church we have "callings". They are like jobs, but are unpaid. I have been the young women's youth leader while in high school as well as a children's gospel teacher and the children's singing chorister. By serving in the church in these capacities, I have felt of the Spirit and know that what we do in the church is instituted of God. I live my faith by trying to do the things that Jesus Christ would have me do so that I can become what he wants me to be. I know I am not perfect right now, but the knowledge of becoming perfected in Him keeps me trying my best. After each shortfall I make, I know he will make up the rest after all that I can do in this life. He is my source of hope, light, and peace. We could all use a little more of that, couldn't we? :)
