Hi I'm Lisa

I live in the Pacific Northwest. Cruised 6 years aboard a 44' sailboat with my husband. I'm a wife, a dog-mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town by the ocean in the upper NW corner of Washington State. My parents were immigrants from Germany and German was spoken frequently at home. I love animals and regret not having pursued a career in the veterinary field. I also love nature and find so much beauty in and on the ocean, atop the mountains and in the forest. I met my husband to be when I was 34 and after knowing each other for 4-months we were married. We will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary in the spring of 2012. A year after getting married we purchased a sailboat and went cruising for 6-years around North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. After returning home, we found a piece of property in the woods by the ocean and the Canadian border, 30 miles from the home I grew up in and built our own home. When not working my part-time job at a sail and powerboat charter company, my favorite activities include staying home and working our acreage with my husband and spoiling our 4-year old hound dog, Jack.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel fortunate that my parents were already active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by the time I was born. I gained a testimony of my own from prayer and personal study. I have talked about beliefs with friends of other faiths and found that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has answers and a fullness that other faiths could not offer me. My goal is to one day live again in the presence of my Heavenly Father. The reason I am a Mormon is because I know that by following the doctrine taught through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it is the only way that I can achieve my goal. In this knowledge I feel peace and comfort that is not obtained anywhere else because the fullness of our Heavenly Father's gospel is not taught anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending meetings and listening to those that are teaching, giving talks or bearing their testimonies and trying to pick out a special meaning for me, something that I can apply to my personal life to reach my goal of once again living with my Heavenly Father. I enjoy attending classes that teach the meaning of the scriptures, however, I also enjoy pursuing my own study. The greatest gift that my faith has given me is prayer, which in turn, continues to strengthen my faith.
