Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of five boys. They keep my wife of 25 years and I very busy. I have been involved in scouting for almost 40 years as a youth and a leader. I love how much character scouting can give to a young man. I also have a passion for soccer, refereeing over the last 20 years. It is such a wonderful sport to keep everyone active and involved. Having a grandchild is such a blessing in my life. Watching the children growing up and starting their lifes as been quite an experience. I have a son serving a mission in Sao Paulo Brazil.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been Mormon all my life. At the age of 16 I went through a lot of challenges that made me doubt what I had been taught. I was asked by a friend to read all of the book of Mormon with an open mind. I started to read the book again wanting to find something to prove it wrong. It didn't take me long to find scriptures to help me out of my problems. By the time I got to where Jesus Christ came to the Americas my testimony was stronger then ever. It is such an amazing book, any time I have a problem with my life I can open my book of Mormon anywhere, start reading, and within a few pages I will find something to help me out. I went on to serve a full time mission and then met my wonderful wife. Raising children is hard but with the help of the gospel of Jesus Christ it makes things easier.

How I live my faith

Over the past ten years I have served helping the young men in the area. I got to go around the area and visit each ward to help teach leaders how to do their calling and also teach the young men. We got to organize a conference each year for the young men and young women to get together and learn more about the gospel and meet other members from other cities around the area. I also have helped all of the scout troops with training leaders and helping the youth to receive their eagles.
