Hi I'm Courtney

I'm a stay-at-home mom of 5. I am military spouse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from central Virginia and loved growing up in a place with so much history. I went to school at Brigham Young University where I graduated with a bachelor's of science degree. Some of my most defining moments at the university happened during an internship to Romania where I was able to work with children in an orphanage. I knew right then that I wanted to make a difference for children and that I would spend my life doing so. I met my husband while at school, and after we married, we started a family. I find joy in being a mother to my 5 children. I am a wife to an Air Force pilot, and while it brings me some worries and challenges, it also gives me a wonderful sense of community and love for my country. I am working towards a master's in speech pathology where I hope to use those skills to help children in one of the most basic human needs: communication. I love being a mother to my children, being active, crocheting, reading and making my home a place where my family can feel the love of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I grew up in a home with loving parents who taught me about Jesus Christ. Their examples and diligence sparked my desire to come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ for myself. I have prayed to know of the truthfulness of the gospel and have come to that knowledge through prayer. Jesus Christ is my Savior; He loves us all and has made a plan for us to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. We are all of divine nature, and Heavenly Father wants us to have joy, in this life and in the life to come. I have found over and over again in my life the hand of loving Heavenly Father. I see the evidence of Him in the beautiful faces of my children, in the kindness of others, in everything that is good! I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true; I try to live the gospel the best I can because I feel that confirmation over and over again.

How I live my faith

I love the holy scriptures; they are an immense guide in my life and help give me clarity in a world that can be confusing. I read from them everyday and find that while they are from a time long ago, there are truths contained in them help strengthen my testimony of Jesus Christ and give me guidance. I also pray to Heavenly Father; I talk to Him everyday! He is my Father who loves me and I feel so blessed that we have direct connection to Him through prayer. I also try to live my faith by loving and serving others around me, forgiving when I need to, and asking for forgiveness when I make mistakes. I attend church every Sunday and feel edified there as I go with an open heart. I work to fulfill my callings (or responsibilities) at church the best I can. Another very important thing that I do to live my faith is to be a teacher to my children of the gospel, that they might learn of their divine nature and worth in the eyes of a loving Heavenly Father.
