Hi I'm Matt

I'm a marathon runner, business major, nature and astronomy enthusiast, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in the outskirts of Salt Lake City, Utah. Therefore, the majesty of the Rocky Mountains is one of my true loves. Running is my passion, whether competing in a race or just going for a jog with a friend. It gives me time to think and relieve the stress of life. I'm a BYU Business School major interested in International business, markets and ongoings. I love languages, and speak Portuguese, Spanish, English, and am currently studying Mandarin Chinese.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. Whenever I go to church or study the scriptures, I feel happy. And I want to feel good and happy everyday--who doesn't? I am not a perfect person. In fact, you may say I'm a sinner. I make mistakes every day. But with the perspective I have gained from being a Mormon and studying our beliefs and the teachings of Christ, I know that I can overcome my problems and sins. It fills me with hope for a bright future, and gives me strength to keep going everyday. And this makes life beautiful to me, even with all of the bad things happening around us. Also, I'm a Mormon because I believe that The Book of Mormon is true scripture from God. And if it's true, that leads me to believe the LDS Church is true. It all makes me a better person, and that's really all I'm striving for in my life--to be the best I can be, for myself and those I love.

How I live my faith

Honestly, I just try my best to keep the 10 Commandments and be the best person I can be. I go to church on Sundays and enjoy learning from others and talking about God and life. On days other than Sundays, and in the spare time that I have, I seek truth from the scriptures, from God, and from books containing truth. Then I use this to try and make myself the best person possible, and share it with others so that they can benefit as well. I served as a missionary teaching people about the Gospel of Jesus Christ as contained in the LDS Church for 2 years in Boston, Massachusetts, and the things I learned and knowledge I gained have stayed with me ever since. I learned that people are all trying their best and want to live good, happy lives, which makes me want the best for them. I love people and try to make them feel loved by serving them and talking with them. I owe this all to my faith in Jesus Christ and the perspective in life that offers me.
