Hi I'm Billie Joy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member of the Church since I was 10 years old. I am now retired and just completed what is called a Senior Mission with my husband. I have four wonderful children and six awesome grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

Good Question! The simple answer would be "because I've found even greater happiness and peace as a Mormon than I could have ever imagined possible. There is great comfort in realizing that our lives here on earth have meaning - that we are here for a purpose and that life really does go beyond our earthly existance. I remember when the missionary couple started teaching us about the Church - about Christ and His reason for coming to earth how all that I was hearing made perfect sense even to a 10 year old's mind. I'd always believed deep down inside that there was some supreme being in control and who was watching over me, but He didn't have a name until I heard the missionaries tell me. My testimony didn't come in one glorious burst of profound knowledge. It came step by step, principle by principle until one day I realized that my entire being was filled with the sure knowledge that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the true Church and that Jesus was "The Christ"! I kow that I have a loving Father in heaven who misses me. Who wants me to come back home to be with Him throughout all the eternities to come. I know that my children and my sweet husband will be with me there. I know that I'm not perfect, but I know with every fiber of my being that my Savior has atoned for those mistakes that I've made and will probably continue to make as I struggle to become more perfect each day.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm working this the little children of the Church - those between the ages of 3 and 12! What a great age! They are so full of questions and a great love of life. They keep me young. Perhaps my favorite opportunity to serve was as President of the Young Women's organization of the Church in a ward that I used to live in. It was a solemn responsibility to teach the young women about the Church and to be a role model for them. I realized that as I was teaching them about the Church, they were teaching me how to have fun in this life when it was appropriate. I can't explain how I live my faith. It is just a part of who I am. It is what leads to me to search for opportunites to volunteer at local schools and at hospitals in order to help those around me. I've vowed to devote the rest of my life to my Savior and to do whatever it is that He asks me to do, knowing in my heart that He will not ask me to do anything that I'm not capable of doing with His help. I truly try to live each day as I believe Christ would want me to live it.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Billie Joy
By reading about Him in the scriptures we come to know Him. We come to realize that He is there. His presence is in everything around us, if we would just take the time to look, listen, and feel. Show more Show less
