Hi I'm Marsha Perkins

I live in Southern Utah and love the beauty of it. My family is # 1 to me and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have six children. We have 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. I recently went back to work interrupting my retirement. My family has always been the driving force behind my work or hobbies. They are everything to me.  I have worked with people from all walks of life and find that through many trials and sorrows people of faith can forge ahead.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to be a descendant of early pioneers on my Mother's side. There was a legacy of faith, sacrifice and endurance given to me by their efforts and all the things they left behind to join the new faith. New to them as they were joining soon after the church was organized. Many suffered through the persecutions, coming west and building from scratch. My grandmother and mother were very faithful women and influenced me a lot for good. I had to search the scriptures for myself however and gain my own knowledge of Jesus Christ. I read the book of Mormon for a few minutes every day, and also read in the Bible and Doctrine and Covenants. The Bible is good, but the other books translated by Joseph Smith enrich and enlighten the verses contained in the Bible. We have learned who we are, where we came from and where we are going. This gives me great comfort, knowing one of my grand daughters and a great grandson will finish growing up with us when we meet them after this life, since they have preceded us in death. It is the calm in my life. I know my Father lives and has a plan for me if I am willing.

How I live my faith

I attend my meetings on Sunday and during the week give some time for other sisters that may have a need. I visit four sisters each month to make sure every thing is going good for them. Sometimes this assignment changes, to other sisters, but the best part is getting to know them better. We usually take a short message given by the Prophet, or one of the Apostles, and share it with the sisters to give them encouragement in their lives. Sometimes we take food into a home where there is an illness, a death, or even a new born. Families at times need an extra pair of hands to help in time of need, unemployment etc. Service brings love and caring. I receive as well as help. I enjoy going to the temple to do work vicariously for those who have not yet had the opportunity. We know the Lord will provide an opportunity for all of his children to hear the gospel. We do this work so they can have the eternal blessings as promised if they so choose.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Marsha Perkins
That we are created in his image. That he is an eternal being, that is all powerful and all knowing. That he has experienced all that we have and more, therfore he knows how to help us to rescue us if we are willing. He is the very Father of our spirits. Show more Show less
