Hi I'm Nathan

I am a husband, father and BYU sports fan. I grew up in Utah and am now a proud Texas resident.

About Me

My wife and I were married in December of 2009. We met at Brigham Young University, but moved to Texas in 2010 for graduate school. We have one daughter and she is a lot of fun and has a ton of energy. I received my Masters of Public Administration in May 2012 from Texas A&M University. I currently work as a ratings analyst I love watching, playing, and discussing sports, especially BYU. I also am an avid reader and love spending time curled up with a good book. I'm something of a Harry Potter fanatic and was fortunate to visit Universal Studios and fulfill a dream to visit the Hogwarts castle.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because of the Gospel Principles that help me improve my life day to day. I know that by studying the scriptures, praying daily, and attending my church meetings, I can draw closer to God. I am continually repenting and correcting mistakes to bring my life closer in line with Christ's teachings. I want to live with my wife and family forever, and by following the teachings of the Church I can achieve my goal.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my daily actions. I try to spend part of each day devoted to worshiping my Savior. I make a point to read the scriptures and recent words of the prophets from the last General Conference. I also try to set an example of a believer. I am open with my co-workers and friends about my beliefs, and want others to see the Gospel light reflected in my eyes. I also live my faith by participating in service activities, helping others that I see, and a loving others. When I am with others I want them to realize that there is something different about me. I don't swear, don't lie, and try not to purposely hurt others. I enjoy joking around and having fun with friends.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Nathan
Reading, searching, and pondering the scriptures is an important step in learning about Heavenly Father. As we pray daily alone and with our families, He will answer prayers, and guide our lives so that one day we can return to live with Him. We can also come to know Him by following the commandments that He had given us. As we follow what He has said, we will come to understand the blessings that we receive. Coming to know Heavenly Father is an intimate and personal process. Each one of us needs to understand for ourselves who he is - our Father in Heaven who loves each and every one of us. Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Nathan
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ revealed to Joseph Smith "Words of Wisdom" that we should follow. We don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol, or use illegal drugs because we are commanded not to. We have been promised that if we follows these commandments, we will be blessed with knowledge, wisdom, and strength. We also believe there are things that we should eat. We should eat a balanced diet eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. We should eat grains. Meats should be eaten sparingly. The food pyramid is an excellent guide for us. I enjoy speaking with my co-workers about the Word of Wisdom and specific things that we try to avoid. Many co-workers wonder why I don't drink coffee. I know that the Lord has given us specific items, and although I may not know the exact reason, I trust in HIs promises to provide me with blessings for following His commandments. Show more Show less
