Hi I'm Elyse

I grew up in Chicago and always wanted to live in the country! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a grandma who has come home to the mid-west after living in the west and for a short time in the south. We are renovating a small house on the edge of a village in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where we love the trees and wildlife. Our children and grandchildren are spread throughout the United States and we love to stay in touch with them and trade visits. My interests include organic gardening, cooking healthy, family history, knitting and spinning my own wool.

Why I am a Mormon

I searched for the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ in a church for a long time and when I found it, I knew it. It makes me so happy to feel such peace, the Savior's love, to know that His gospel is upon the earth once more and that in these tough times we have someone on earth who represents Him, a prophet of God. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church, that Joseph Smith restored the Savior's church, and that he translated the Book of Mormon - the history of God's dealings with another people out of Jerusalem in the Americas. How wonderful to comprehend that Heavenly Father loves all the people on the earth. There is room in my heart for all that He has sent us from His prophets throughout all history - ancient times to today. God loves us.

How I live my faith

I am the secretary right now for our women's group called the Relief Society. I have always loved writing and being organized so this is a fun way for me to help out. We spend a couple hours each Sunday learning and sharing and worshiping in a reverent, beautiful chapel and the rest of the week remembering the Savior as we love and serve one another. I am far from perfect but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the north star that guides me through life.

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Elyse
When I was a young woman I saw a movie about Brigham Young. I was fascinated but I thought the church was just a Utah church. I waited nine years before I met someone who was a Mormon. I had no idea that the church is everywhere now.
