Hi I'm Blake

I'm 24 and am trying to figure out this life

About Me

I grew up in the Seattle area and then came to Provo, Utah to study. I went on a two year mission to Canada and returned to school afterward. I just finishing my undergrad in Speech Pathology/ Audiology and am now working as a speech technician at a local charter school. I love my job and am also looking forward to graduate school. I really enjoy sports, especially tennis and I am also interested in art, meditation, and movies. I love spending time with family and friends, just hanging out and talking.

Why I am a Mormon

I attribute many of the blessings in my life to the fact that my parents loved us and taught us about Christ. My parents are both Mormon and I was raised in the Faith. The church's teaching brought me a lot of peace, understanding and direction in my life. In the Mormon church, I learned how to pray, recognize and receive answers and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I continue to be a member now that I'm away from home because I have learned for myself that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ can be found and accessed in the Mormon church. I have had to question, study, and pray to come to this knowledge and I've received answers to my prayers. I don't understand everything about my faith, but what I do know has been a blessing in my life. Just knowing the nature of our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ makes my membership in this church worth it. The more I learn about them, the more I feel their love and learn their will for me in my life. The Mormon church has helped me in this process. Having living prophets and modern scripture helps me know my Savior better and know what He would have me do.

How I live my faith

The two great commandments: Love God and Love Others. This is how I try to live my faith. I show my love of God by getting to know him and serving him. I get to know Him through personal prayer, scripture study, and church/temple service. As I do these things I feel His love for me, get to know him better and I find my love for Him increasing. As I love and serve others, I know I am showing my love for God. By getting to know those around me, I find it hard not to love them... people are so amazing. I try to help when I can. I am grateful that the Mormon church gives me opportunities to serve both God and Others. I don't live my life and faith perfectly, but I am grateful that I receive help from my Savior and those who love him.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I have known very good, impressive women in and out of the Mormon church. The women who I know in the church are talented, intelligent and powerful women who make a significant difference in their work and service. In the church, so many of the women who were my teachers, mentors and examples helped me live successfully and find happiness. There is nowhere I know of where women are treated with more respect, honor and reverence than in the Mormon church. Since the time when I was a young boy, I have been taught how important, strong and beautiful women are and to do everything I can to serve and help them. Every blessing available to men in the church is available to women also. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

God has called prophets throughout time to teach His people. I know that I often have questions and concerns living in today's world and it makes sense to me that God would call Prophets to help us. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Christ called apostles in the past and I am grateful he calls them now. Show more Show less
