Hi I'm Lance

I love my family and veterinary medicine. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a first year veterinary medicine student at Washington State University, a husband to my beautiful wife of five years, and a father of three wonderful girls who make me laugh every day. I love veterinary medicine and I enjoy surgery. I work on my surgical skills every week and hope to be a general practitioner and surgeon for a mixed animal clinic one day. I love learning how animal bodies works and to be able to fix problems that arise. When I was 19 years old, my father passed away from colon cancer, and I lost my best friend. Shortly after his passing, I served an LDS mission in Lansing, Michigan, which was the same mission my father went on. I was even able to meet people who knew my father 30 years prior to me going to Michigan. Upon returning home to Utah, I suffered major depression and grieved for my father all over again. After working with two wonder men and my mother who helped me through my depression, I found mountain biking that gave me a natural high and helped me to climb physical and mental mountains. In October 2008, I met my wonderful wife and we were married four months latter. My wife has been my biggest fan and encouraged me all the way, even when I doubt myself. I really enjoy spending time with my wife, playing on the floor with my daughters, mountain biking, camping, fishing, hunting, horse back riding, going to the movies, playing board games, and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I am not a member because my parents were. I read the Book of Mormon when I was 16 years old and I felt the spirit of the Lord testify to my soul that the Book of Mormon was the Word of God, that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God and restored the Church of Christ on the earth again in our day with prophets and apostles just as in the days of Christ, that Christ is our savior, that He, Jesus Christ died and rose again the third day so that He could help us to over come sin and return to God again. Since that day, I have had many challenges in my life, and I have found that God, our Father in Heaven is always there for me. He has never let me down. He was there for me when I lost my father, He led me to my wonderful wife, and He helps me everyday with my school work. I am a Mormon because it is not about religion, it is about coming unto God and trying everyday to be like His son, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Other then the standard answer of going to church on Sunday, I really like to read my scriptures before I start studying. I find that the scriptures calm my mind and make it so I can focus. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and helps me everyday live beyond my capacity to study veterinary medicine. When I am having a hard day, I drop to my knees or pray where I am, and often while I am walking to school. Time and time again, I have found that Heavenly Father is always there for me as I take the time to invite him into my life.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes we are Christians, the full name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe in Jesus Christ just as other Christians do and that he is the Son of God who came to earth to atone for our sins and then die so that we could be forgiven of our sins and then live again, be resurrected just as he was resurrected. I don't know why other people think we are not Christians, but we are, so yes you can be my friend or any other Latter-day Saints friend and know that we believe in Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
