Hi I'm Sosaia

I grew up in the Midvale/Sandy area of Salt Lake City, UT. I finished high school and joined the Marine Corps. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old, I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who will be serving in the Tonga, Nuku'alofa mission Tongan speaking. Before my mission I became a United States Marine in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. I served 2 years before I left for my mission and will be serving another 4 after my mission. I enjoy volleyball, pool, table tennis, ultimate frisbee, basketball, I'm hoping to get into rugby, football, rock climbing, hiking, and many other recreational activies, as well as playing video games, watching tv shows and movies, going on dates, getting to know people, learning new things, and having fun. I have a passion for singing and I love singing for other people, giving talks, and listening to others as they need someone to talk to or communicate with.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught the principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was 7 years old by and elder named Elder Finn. I recieved it with much gladness and was baptised at the age of 8 almost exactly a month after my birthday. Shortly after that my family became inactive. I forgot the principles of the church for quite some time and lived without the gospel. I made some friends when I was 12. I started to hang out with them and shortly one of my good friends asked me to join him at church. I went and became an active member of the church. My family would occasionally come with me, but I went with my friend most of the time. When I was 18 my mom decided to come back to church to become closer to me and that really helped strengthen my testimony. Now I am a missionary for the church preparing to serve in the Tonga, Nuku'alofa mission at the Provo MTC.

How I live my faith

Currently I live my faith by being a missionary for the church. I live the principles, study them, and teach them to others. I am thankful for my calling as a missionary and am so thankful for the many opritunities that I've had to do good.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, actually no one is "required" to serve a mission. Would the lord like us to? Yes, it's one thing that we've been asked to do as Melchizedek Priesthood holders and sisters of the church. A mission is not right path for everyone. We are to pray to our heavenly father to know if we should serve and he will answer our prayers. Now a sister's first priority is the family and may be something she decides to focus on instead of going on a mission. Couples may also go on a mission together when they get into their later years, but again it's something that you decide you want with your spouse and with our heavenly father. Show more Show less
