Hi I'm Laura

I'm a yoga instructor, graduate student, and wife. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I joined the LDS church at age 19. So many of the questions I had all my life were answered in the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants. I met with missionaries and they asked me to pray so I could know if these things were true. I did pray, I received an answer that The Book of Mormon is true, and I have never looked back. Since joining the church, I have found strength in the truthfulness of the gospel. I know that I am a daughter of God. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that Christ’s atonement makes it possible for me to overcome any sin or trial in my life. I know that there is a Prophet on the earth today, and that there is modern day revelation so I can know what my Heavenly Father wants me to do. My experience in the church can best be summarized by a verse in Alma 32: 28 “Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.” It is my testimony that this gospel is a good seed, and given the opportunity of an open heart, it will grow.

Why I am a Mormon

A past Prophet of the LDS church, Lorenzo Snow, said, "the whole idea of Mormonism is improvement - mentally, physically, morally, and spiritually." By following Christ we improve every day. That's why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

As a Mormon, I try to focus my life on doing the things that will help me to follow Christ. It has been my personal experience that I can have joy in life by trying to follow the example of Christ and treat others as He would treat them. There is a peace that comes from making decisions based on true principles that are eternal. I find these principles in the scriptures as I study them and as I pray. Attending church each week is an opportunity to partake of the sacrament, which allows me to renew my covenants made at baptism. I listen to weekly sunday school lessons that help me apply the gospel to my life and I feel impressed to know the answers to current issues I'm facing in my life. As I associate with the members of my Ward, I find that they provide me with insight or support that helps me deal with trials or find gratitude for my blessings. Family is central to my life. There is no other joy that can compare to love at home. Home is a sacred place that feels like heaven to me. It is a place of safety and security, a place of kindess and love. After a long day, I find that I am anxious to be home so that I can enjoy the evening hours and prepare for the day ahead.
